I'm getting very sick of people complaining about autism. About 10 years ago, some friend that I had told me that his grandson was tested for autism and that the doctor kept on saying that it wasn't autism, it wasn't a big deal and that the parents could relax and he said that three times in a row. The fact that so many people see it in a negative light pisses me off. I have to work three times as hard as everybody else where I work in order to prove to them that life with autism is worth living, and I'm not a prisoner of a label.

I tried telling a friend about me being Autistic, except all he ever did was saying "The Devil is telling you things"

Some friend he is....

Oh my, I love this thread. I can see what the OP is talking about but oh god, I want someone to tell me the devil is telling me I'm autistic. Sorry if it broke your friendship up or whatever. I had a friend not believe me too. She was one of those anti-label people too. Had a friend diagnosed with ADHD who was an artist. Now thinks doctors label creative people with disorders.

Yeah. I mean, I really wish most news about autism were good news, but at least there's even news about autistics to begin with. There are alot of disorders that go unnoticed, invisible. But like I said, more positive stories need to be told when it comes to covering autism.

When I first saw the thread title, the text was so small on my Blackberry that I though it read "Hard of Hearing People complaining about Autism"...

I´m really tired of media suggesting that aspies/autists have no empathy and are prone to violent behaviour. Seems like every time a serial killer is arrested there are journalists and self-proclaimed experts who are certain he (it´s almost always a man) has AS/autism because he has a few of the symptoms.
Thankfully there are people who are intelligent enough to see through and criticize this media misrepresentation.

really!! you are being so judgemental of how others are you fail to see that you have gone online and wasted space spreading your message of hate towards a community of challenged people. if you had even a slight clue what autism was or the sensory issues associated with it that lead to the "disruptions from change" perhaps you would get it.. but no, no you have no clue & trying to explain the intricacy of the disorder to you would be like trying to teach astrophysics to a dung beetle.

My brother is deaf and has Asperger's, so I would be curious to see what his complaint would consist of!
