No. I'm on some rather peaceful well moderated NT forums and have came out to some people and got a good response.

i can passively tell people on 4chan's /int/ that i'm autistic and usually i'll get a brit responding "same".

i don't think that would happen on /v/.

the key (or, one of the keys) is not to make a big deal about it. and that's not just for 4chan.

I imagine part of that is being an anonymous site which is why I think so many people on the spectrum seem to browse that site.

When I asked a question about my workplace conflict on Workplace SE and mentioned that I have Aspergers, they briefly edited my question and deleted that mention, and then closed the question as "offtopic".
I wonder if this counts as "making a big deal".

Intentionally hostile, no. Grossly misinformed, yes. Instead of seeing these instances as a personal attack (i.e. someone saying "that's so autistic"), I've started to take them as an opportunity to educate people on what ASD is, and how common misconceptions harm the community at large. Not sure if I've managed to change any stances yet, but I like to think I'm doing my part. :)

that doesn't sound like such a big deal to me, on your part. if it wasn't just the mods (or whoever) doing their job, it sounds like it was them making the fuss about it.

in such a case, you'd probably have to bring up your aspergers if you want to get the most relevant responses.

Well, this is not the only case that happened to me. Just mention autism, and you get bullied and/or silenced instantly.
Try talking about your problems publicly, and get silenced in most cases.

Yes, but it is a trend. You all make autism into a joke, they make it into a joke too.

I think that some are, but not most. It usually seems to be young boys who use autistic as an insult.

I don't where the disorder on my sleeve. I do my best to mask it, and act like an NT in public, so I've never experienced anything in the public realm. Work is a different story, for its hard to maintain acting NT, and so called normal. This has led me to being fired in the past.
As far as on line I've had no problems, its not something i disclose to people, so its hard to detect in other types of forums. I don't do social media, so thats something i don't have to worry about either.

Whenever a "Cringe" video is shown online, at least one person will say the people acting awkward or embarrassing in it must be autistic. "Autistic" is used constantly as an insult. A few weeks ago on a YouTube channel called The Annotation Station, they described the annotations in their videos as "hilariously autistic colored boxes". I asked what was so hilariously autistic about them. No reply. Adults are paranoid that their children may be autistic and therefor their lives are not worth living, and anti-vaxxers and curbies and Auti$im $peaks can say whatever they want to brainwash the gullible and weak of mind because there's no law against stupidity. But there should be. :x
