Autism advocacy groups misrepresent aspies

Thank you Ken. Now that you mention it, I actually contacted the Cincinnati group by email and discussed with them about joining. They said they would contact me with additional information about me joining them. They never got back with me. I forgot about them until now.

Ohio is a sore spot in advocacy. The signs of pity for caring.

I have actually been very well pleased with the support that Ohio offers. The only thing I have ever noted was getting no response back from the Cincinnati chapter. But since I have four emails, who knows what happened---they may have tried to get back with me. I will give them the benefit of the doubt on that.

If I recall the video correctly and if it was Ohio there was people claiming to have autism full of angered hate with signs calling people marching pity. I will research it. Anger can be popular and was for several years but the momentum is running out. The time for civility and mutual human rights realization is now.

Autism Speaks is a research organization primarily why would it hand out checks to everyone and of course people will want free money.

Autism is a conceptual puzzle that science tries to figure out to help. Taking things to personally.

Autism related research may lead to pro-choice options but research is for other things. The public needs evidence not just empty rhetoric.

Calling people who care pity is very rude, hateful and disrespectful.

If I could I'd counter protest as these folks seems to function very well and of course they don't want treatments developed by understanding autism. They are offended at the societal judgement of autism being a disability which it is and their own self-image and autism. They likely have very mild autism and autism is a label applied to help people and it seems Autism Speaks uses money to raise awareness as an investment to gain more funding for research.

Autism Speaks is not a social welfare program or social services facilitator.

Well...I have to update my above reply. Upon checking for sent email from the Cincinnati chapter in all of my emails (via the main Ohio website) I found they did reply---months ago. They had invited me to attend a local chapter meeting in Cincinnati, and they would consider using me as an advocate (since that was what I had inquired about).

Ci---I know about the protests and stuff. That happens in a lot of places---nothing new to me. I am satisfied with Ohio and its support---it has worked well for the people I know.

I am pleased with Ohio and its advocacy. I actually support autismohio.org financially---the same organization referred to through the Cincinnati and Columbus group.

If folks want to protest they are going to have to answer to others with autism who see them as evading human rights for other issues. If they fail to they will become further irrelevant. Also Autism Speaks does not exclude people with autism speaking through the organization. It seems to support individuals choices for research and anti-research agenda's evade this right. Autism is a disability and most of the public realize this. The protest seem to be extremely discriminatory based on the premise of simply approach. I think folks need to find a better approach and not simply destroy one of the few options there are for research choices. Find a better solution, compete openly and then others will see more options available.

Right now it seems to be destructive, discriminatory toward the disability aspects of autism from an alienable autism identity philosophy when autism is a disability and having to do with mainstream abortion issues which is why the Republican politician liked the protest in one of the videos. However Republicans also help Autism Speaks. The public relations of ASAN in Ohio is extremely bad and the approach self-destructive. Seeking a different approach if possible because the damage is already done to ASAN would be wise and maybe apologizing for the pity rhetoric.

ASAN has been offered and agreed by 3rd party to debate me. Then failed to show up. I can make it a hobby to confront ASAN not in whole but in parts that seem utterly wrong headed, wrong hearted and contrived of empty rhetoric from a PHD in rhetoric that seeks only to target my self-esteem for reaction.

It's time to sit down and rationalize things but some folks in control fear others understanding the rhetoric.

I am going to continue to support autismohio.org. There's good and bad in most anything---even where you live.

Yep and I am on top of the bad and I'd suspect you to be an ethical leader after my spending time with you. I want you to support individual choices even in terminology in exception for clearly insulting behavior such as calling people with autism R words. The time of making mountains out of mole hills is over to establish the self-advocacy movement and it has run it's course. Time for innovation, solutions and motivation or else failure.

Everyone has their opinions of things. I will continue my financial support as I have done for the past half year. Thank you for your concern though.

My Rhetoric however leads to facts.

It is devised in a way that propels people to find answers.

Human rights are choice based and facilitators of advocacy that do not respect diversity of opinion traditionally fall. Feelings of anger to direct oppositional hatred only last so long. People are not dumb goats to believe everything of rhetoric for too long.

YouTube is the seed ground for this sort of debate because the protesters are a very small micro-micro minority that can even attend them. I will be analyzing other debate points and not even mentioning organizations. The videos will be featured under all keywords and phrases.

I will clarify why I don't watch the videos posted.

1. I don't want to watch them.

2. My computer connection is so slow that they usually lock up and stop playing after a few seconds. So for the few videos that I tried to watch (a friend who was a member here who posted music) they lock up.

Anyway, talk to you later. If I don't get the dishes cleaned before my wife gets home from church, I am going to have to do some serious advocating for myself .
