Maybe they ran out of colors...so many causes these days.

True I think the jigsaw means that "Normal People" are trying to understand us like a jigsaw and that for them when (or if) they succeed it's like solving a puzzle.

I'm more offended by Autism Speaks and what they do with all that money they get than by that silly image.

Actually, I like the symbol. To me, the piece is a piece of us. Might be a major piece, or might be a minor piece. It is not the total of who we are, but just a piece of who we are.

And how about us who don't feel that we're broken or that we need to be fixed. like myself for example. I'm happy with my autism and I celebrate it every day. :)

I don't know. I know people get them tattooed and it can mean a mysterious side of the person or just because they wanted it done. Symbols don't always mean one thing and to each person that meaning can change. In my country, having runes tattooed makes people think you are into Far Right views, but pagans get them done to represent their beliefs as pagans.

The symbol is bit "meh". The red, blue and yellow scheme is hideous 8O

I think that it is offensive that there must be a specific symbol for autism. You don't see one for schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or a bunch of other worse stuff. Why single us out? Some of us can pass off as normal.

I am not offended by it, I view it as categorically wrong.

I have no issues with how you view yourself, although I wish there were support and help available for you because you sound like you are in a bad place. However, I do not think such a perspective is necessarily the only appropriate perspective to have when one is autistic. Most of my misery came from not understanding why everything was so hard, and blaming myself for not trying hard enough. Once I knew what the problem was, I was able to forgive myself.

I don't think autistic people are broken just for being autistic. I think that some experiences can have a stronger effect on us than they do on most NTs - stress, trauma, etc. can have a greater impact because autistic people do not have as many resources to cope with these things as NTs do. But this isn't broken anymore than being blind or deaf is broken. We're still whole people.
