Disturbing video on YouTube
So you are saying that its OK to mock aspergers syndrome as long as you use the disclaimer "We didn't mean anything bad by it."
No I didn't see the description you posted when I looked at it. I believe it was added after the fact.
Wasn't there a radio talk show host that was recorded by his daughter saying stuff like "... blacks are all like ..." And when it became public he defended himself with "... but I didn't mean anything bad by it."
Does a disclaimer really make it OK?
BTW, anyone who disagrees with that is a ret*d aspie.

The ret*d aspie here is you. The ones who just can't understand they weren't mocking the condition. They have made themselves clear in their disclaimer.
Heck I make jokes about AS. I like to say places have AS or people or fictional characters. Other aspies have enjoyed my sense of humor and my boyfriend too. Oh yeah and I have made up my own aspie terms for people with AS and they are all meant to be offensive. Asspie, bitchspie, baspie, bullspie. See all offensive meant to put down the aspie who is in a**hole, a b***h, a bad person, and a bully. That's what all those terms mean. I have made one of my own aspie friends laugh one time when I called his ex girlfriend all those names and he just laughed because. She just likes to play games with the court and torment and torture him.
What daughter? And where did this disclaimer come from?
Maybe they added that one movie info because too many people were taking the joke the wrong way thinking they were mocking the condition not the name and thought they were mocking DS. You can even tell in the video they were mocking the name of it because it's the hamburgers is what gave it away. What do you not get about "Ass-Burgers?" It was Assburgers, not Aspergers? Ge the difference now. They were mocking the name of it, not the condition. It does sound like "Ass-Burgers" when some people say the name.
If you look at the other ret*d Policeman videos, they also have the same disclaimer.
The DS guy enjoys making the videos with his friends and it be a shame if someone like you kept flagging them and they all got taken down. Wouldn't he think he was being discriminated because of his DS and people were acting like DS people shouldn't act because they got the wrong idea they were making fun of people who have DS and MR? That's how I would feel if I had it and all the videos I were in got taken down.
Awesome video about clearing things up about their videos.

Why is it OK for those guys to mock aspies with a disclaimer, but its not OK for me to do it?

I read it and who said you couldn't?
Ewww. I don't find that kind of humor funny, but like most people have already stated, I'm not really offended by it. I'm also gay, and there's waaaaaaaaay more people poking fun at homosexuals than at people with AS. Sometimes there are gay jokes that go too far, and other times it's clearly not meant to be taken seriously and is just in good fun. Hell, a lot of gay skits are done by gay men these days. You can say the same thing about asperger jokes, yes there is such a thing as going too far, but this video was clearly just in fun.
I once heard a gay joke. I was 21 and I was walking in my aunt and uncle's neighborhood and I was in town there. Well I am walking by a food stand in a parking lot and I see two guys. One guy says to the other guy "What did the homosexual donkey say to the other donkey? Hi"
He said "hi" in a ret*d way and he sounded like Arnie on What's Eating Gilbert Grape.
I thought it was a dumb joke because it didn't make sense. What does talking that way have to do with being gay? I laughed anyway because it was so dumb.
i didn't get it till i read some comments on here. anywho. whilst watching it i thought it was pretty boring but when i realised it was part of a pun i chuckled a little... i dont think its "too" offensive cause iv seen alot worse but... well... basicly... after watching it iv decided i didn't like it but i didn't dislike it. so its just an interesting video that shaln't be viewed by me again.

There is a difference between a joke told with a light heart and a joke meant to be malicious. I realize that there are a lot of people out there that tell jokes of the malicious variety when referring to us spectrumites, but don't think that they all are.
Laughing at yourself brings awareness of minor flaws and truths, and makes them even less difficult to deal with. I can't tell you how many times I've looked at my husband after he's rattled off another serial number for the floor tiles in a restaraunt where we're eating and started rocking back and forth mumbling "246". We both have a laugh, and then he gets me back the next time I do something blatantly Aspie. (FYI- Hubby works as an accounts manager for a tile company and has picked up on almost the entire line of serial numbers for his products, even the ones that are no longer being produced.)
(I posted this in another thread, but find it's relevant to warrant posting here too)
Q: What does Rain Man eat for lunch?
A: A Whopper at 4.

I could care less if someone would try to offend someone with aspergers. People who try to offend people for no good reason are only people who are trying to take their problems out on other people. It's them releasing their anger on innocent people. I feel sympathy for people who choose to make fun of people who are 'different'.
