So I was on the bus ride home the other day, and I noticed there was an Autism centre at one of the buildings. I knew it was there before because of the sign, but this particular time I decided to peek at the sign for details. I found out their slogan was "Making small talk", and I'm not quite sure what to think. On the one hand, the slogan doesn't really affect me because I only pass by the building, not interact with (the people in) it. On the other hand, there are a couple of ways to interpret that slogan. So...Idk. What do you guys think?

Surely "Avoiding small talk" would have been more appropriate?

That's kind of odd considering spectrumites are not known for small talk. Perhaps they're saying they've found a way to make folks on the spectrum be more "normal."

It would make sense as a seminar or topic being offered.

Like it or not, it's an important skill to have.

That's the way I might read it, too.

I'd really prefer a slogan like, 'Appreciating People's Abilities and Differences,' :bigsmurf:

or, 'We Are All Different,' :jester:

or, 'We All Have Patchy Skills' :bball:

It was written on the solid sign outside of the building, and I've passed by it more than once over the past few months, so I doubt it's a meeting topic.

If it works for you, I'd suggest you walk by/look at the location again, and see if you can find out any more information. There's a practical limit to what we can determine here on WP.
