When I was in college a few years ago, I had to make a video of any topic for part of my course. After a lot of thinking, I decided to do a video based on my own experience of having Asperger Syndrome.
The video I made took the viewer on a made-up journey into my mind and into the 'Inner World/Universe' that many people with Autism and Aspergers create as a way of escaping reality. As well as this, I touched upon my own experiences such as bullying and having hyperactive senses along with trying to disband some of the stereotypical myths about Aspergers - such as some 'experts' saying we have a lack of imagination and empathy. For making the video, I used all sorts of 'materials' from internet media (videos, images, etc.), Buddypoke, Particle Illusion, etc. before finally piecing it all together on Movie Maker. I didn't finish it completely until gone four in the morning on a college night!

When I finally finished the video, I didn't think it was very good but changed my mind when I got a lot of positive feedback from my peers, my teachers and my family. The video got me a distinction for that unit of my college work - the highest grade I got while at college.
In the years since then, I've kept the video and occasionally look back at it every now and then. I also showed it to a lady who helped me find paid work, who was also impressed with it and even asked me if she could use it for when she did her classes with others who had autistic spectrum disorders.

Since then, she has asked me about the possibility of doing a 'sequel' or an 'update' to the video since a lot has changed from when I did it.
It's for this reason that I need your help.

For this updated sequel to my original video, I feel I should revisit some of the points I made in the original and add a bit more while adding other subject matters to the mix. Also, I was thinking about keeping the whole "going inside my mind" idea as I quite enjoyed doing that.
- One of the changes I will end up making, however, will be trying to show a better balance between showing what it's like for both boys and girls to have this 'gift' as in my last video, it was more general.
- A second change will be to show how having Aspergers can be a positive rather then just focusing on the negative aspects that the media so often does.
- For a third change, I was thinking about explaining a bit about what can you do when school ends and when it comes to getting a job.

However, I'd like some ideas from you about anything I could include or possibly any ideas you think I could incorporate to make the video better.
All suggestions are welcomed. Please comment as soon as you can.

Thank you, and love and light to you all.

I also view Asperger's as a gift in my life. I am a talent savant in music. I have some special intense interests that have made my life a lot of fun---in exploring and collecting things associated with those interests.

I have heard that approximately 1 in 10 of us with autism have some form of savant skills/ talents. I think I would include that. We also tend to pay a lot of attention to details. We are truth seekers. I love to over analyze a lot of things I find interesting.

Sorry, I'm not thinking too clearly this evening to offer more help now, kind of feeling ill---sore throat, aching, flu like symptoms.

A few ideas etc.

There two videos on YouTube which you may not have seen and are very good:
1/ "Tony Attwood Interview" by TheAnMish - she asks him some good questions which are relevant.
2/ "Ask Dr Tony on Girls with Aspergers" - He explains why there are more girls with aspergers than is commonly recognised, and why less women tend to get diagnosed.

Tony Attwood also wrote a paper in which he re-defines Aspergers Syndrome by it strengths. It is an interesting paper and well worth a read. The title is: "The Discovery of “Aspie” Criteria", the link is here

I think you have already demonstrated one of our strengths, which is our ability to focus on and learn anything that we are interested in.
If one has this ability it can be incredibly useful and rewarding to our self esteem.

Lastly part of a post on Wrong Planet (not by me) of stereotypical language and its meaning:

7. Sure, go ahead = you better not
8. Do what you want = you will pay for this later
