What would happen if prince George has an ASD?

Was just wondering what would happen if in a couple of years time they discovered that prince George had an ASD? (Or any neurological disorder but let's just keep it at ASDs). Just because he's a royal, doesn't mean to say he will naturally be born 'perfect', no matter how 'perfect' they make him. Anything's possible.

Or what if the Queen gets Alzheimer's disease?

I suppose it would be all over the papers. I was just curious of what happens when a royal has a mental or physical condition?

A Regent is appointed who takes over the day to day activities but not becoming Monarch.

If the queen had Alzheimer's I'm sure she would be well into the late stages by now (she's what, almost 90 now?). Not to say she doesn't have any senile moments. Didn't she fall asleep at the royal wedding?

As far as ASD goes I'm sure they would have scrutinized Kate's side of the family for any genetic predispositions before letting Prince William marry her (to avoid tainting the royal bloodline with any poor genes)

If Prince George had Autism then I think his mum and dad would want him deported to a concentration camp or some other place like that. Remeber what happened to Prince John he has epilepsy as well as autism the royals there saw him as a bad secret. like surviving child sex abuse. If the kid tuns out to be allistic then he will be rammed down our throughts for ages it make you weep. When Princess Margaret was ill and in a wheelchair, the queen was embarrased by her own sister. just because she developed a disability. As far as disability and non allism are concerned the royal family are like a pack of animals having to exclude everyone who isn't one of their prized augments. No wonder I'm a republican

People can develop Alzheimer's at any stage after 60 (sometimes younger but in rare cases).

So everybody thinks prince George is a little blessing, but if he was diagnosed with any condition, he would be wiped out to be tortured. That would break my heart.

All hell would break loose. And not positive, either.

If he had mild ASD, I don't that they'd keep him from becoming king and having all duties. Maybe I'm overly optimistic in that regard.

Couldn't a mildly intellectually disabled person perform the monarch's duties? I don't mean that as an insult to anyone with ID. They don't really have any formal powers anymore and don't govern. They're a figurehead who participates in ceremonies, approves laws parliament passes by default, appoints the prime minister (pre-determined), and gives a speech to parliament that someone else wrote.

I think he would become a cause celebre for autism or for the disability. I think we have come a long ways from the 'hide the person behind closed doors' mentality. It would be a trend talk of which high profile professional he was treated by.

I don't think we'd find out, because quite frankly it's a private matter for the family, of no relevance to us. His job is really just to look quaint and impress dumb foreigners, most of the speeches he'll have to make are scripted, and he could probably lobby against doing them if he didn't want to. Also, if Prince George did have ASD, it certainly wouldn't be in his best interests for it to be splashed about the papers, so they'd probably get an injunction (or put an embargo) on reporting about it.

If it were to be made public, I could quite see his mother becoming a patron of Autism UK or something, if they chose to, they could do a lot of good for Autism.

Now imagine the paparazzi going after an autistic prince.

I do like the thought of an autistic king flapping wherever he wants to, and going off at autism speaks.

Really though, the total family are already treated liked zoo exhibits. It would be better for everyone involved if commonwealth nations went Republic.

I also wonder what would happen if Harry wanted marry a dude.

I'm so glad I live in America where there's no royal family.
