International database on Autism is eugenics
Back in 2019 I posted about an Autism conference I attended where a I reported on a collaborative international research study between hospitals in Canada, UK, US and Australia that was creating a gene database on Autism. People, entire families with children with autism were being asked to give blood samples and their medical records were being tracked on international databases.
I raised concerns on this forum that the purpose of this gene database was the creation of a blood test for:
a) prospective parents on their genetic risk of having a child with autism
b) offering such parents more intrusive prenatal testing for autism during the first trimester of pregnancy like currently offered for downs screening.

I said this effectively comes across as eugenics against autism. I was ignored.
It now appears in 2025 many in medical science is also raising concerns that these databases are actually being created for precisely that reason.
Many here believe neurotypicals think "autism is a superpower". But it looks the pervading attitude about autism hasn't really changed from the days of Hans Asperger. Creating such tests ultimately can't be avoided but are we as an online community comfortable about this?
