I'm making a presentation about autism
I am scheduled to make a short presentation -five minutes- about autism at the end of this month. The presentation will be to a local society of which I am a member. My aim is to raise awareness about autism/Asperger's to the other members, who, by and large, are as ignorant about autism as the general population.
I am intending the theme of my presentation to be "What the world looks like from the perspective of an autistic person." Ideally, I would like to read a couple of poems written by people on the spectrum, that put this point across. Can anybody suggest some such poems, that put the point across strikingly? I would, of course, need to ask the author for permission to use their work.
I have done my own research and have some ideas already, but I would like to listen to other peoples' suggestions.
I am particularly interested in suggestions from neurotypicals here, as most of my audience will be neurotypical. So, NTs, if a poem has helped you to better understand an autistic person's perspective on the world, please let me know.
Short pieces of prose would be suitable too.
