BBC Radio 4 Women's Hour - Autism and Girls. 02 April 2009:

Aaargh! So, two psychologists and a parent of children on the spectrum. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!

What about people actually *on the spectrum*?

A friend of mine has done some producing for this programme. And the partner of a different presenter was a classmate of mine on a radio production course. I will be emailing them to ask them not about the gender discrepancy, but about the discrepancy of inviting everyone and his dog *but* a person on the spectrum to talk about this issue. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

They rarely talk to adults with ASD on the radio and when they do they like to undiagnose them as they 'talk'!. I heard a program with the famous aspie who wrote a book on maths (daniel hammet??) and they were saying to him 'oh, well you must be very mild, what makes you think you have aspergers'.

Indeed they did. They gave her a fair opportunity to represent herself and she did it well.
