I'm underweight, but it doesn't really bother me much. I think I weigh around 110 lbs, which is light even for my towering 5'4".

We're almost the same size! I'm 5'3" and I weigh 105lbs. Being small does have disadvantages. People run into me in the hallways at school, and push me all over the place, just because people don't even notice me.

JayShaw, It's wonderful that you got your overeating in control!! there's an interesting theory that compulsive overeating is actually a reaction to food allergies. I think this may have some truth because when I stopped eating gluten I stopped eating such huge amounts, among other positive things :D

I was doing the Flex Programme at weight Watchers for a while, where you have a Points Target and than 35 Flex Points. That's where I ran into trouble. I'm afraid to try the Core Programme, because that's the Programme in which you don't have to write anything down except for the extra food that you use your Flex Points on. My Brian doesn't pick up the Fullness Signal that my Stomach is supposed to send. I switched back to following the Winning Points system where I was given Points Ranges for each Weight Range, and no Flex Points to get me off track. Winning Points was the Programme that being implimented when I first started. I hope all of this makes sense.

Have you checked that you've got the right address or him, including zip code?

I was very thin most of my life. As a child, I was one of the smaller kids on the playground. At sixteen, I remember weighing 120 lbs. (probably 5’7” back then, 5’9” currently.) This could have been my development being stunted by Ritalin.

At the age of thirty I started gaining fat. Before that, I was at the weight of 140 lbs for many years. Around that age I began doing sedentary work for the first time and also became involved with computers. The beer drinking increased as well, so it was inevitable that I would gain waist size.

In March of 2004, I weighed 180 lbs @ 25% body fat. My waist was 37 inches. I didn’t like the way I looked at all, but lacked the motivation to change. When I revived my temporarily dormant hobby of hiking I realized how out-of-shape I was. That was the motivation I needed, two things: a) I wanted to look good and b) I wanted to be in good cardiovascular shape.

So I changed my diet and began exercising regularly, doing both weight training and cardio. It took nine months to get to a point where I look the way I want. At this time, I weigh 148 lbs. @ 14% body fat. My waist is back to 32”. However, I’d like to reduce my body fat further, to 12%. Along the way I’ve transformed myself from a sloth with a monitor tan to a regular peak bagger who hikes once a week.

I’ve lost my cravings for sweets and nowadays eat six small meals per day, with a cheat day once a week.

The only things I eat are:

Eggs
Chicken, pork, fish
Red meat (less than once per week)
Cottage cheese (low fat)
Fruits (bananas, apples, and prunes)
Vegetables
All natural peanut butter
Whole grain breads
Oatmeal
Nuts (cashews, almonds)
Supplements (vitamins, Omega 3)
Green tea

I also stay away from high glycemic index foods. So I avoid anything made with flour and white potatoes, etc.

I've been thin all my life and it seems like I can eat all I want and not worry about my weight at all. My father used to eat four or five meals at buffets and he has always been thin; he is 6'1 (I thought all this was relevant because maybe there is a "thin" gene). I also tend to eat a lot. My family calls it "grazing". I'll eat and eat all day long at the same pace (usually junkfood but also it is often fruit or cereal). Right now I'm about 6' tall (but still growing -- I'm only 16) and only 130 lbs.

Way to go, Louisa. If you're strict about restricting your calories, you can make a lot of progress in a relatively short period of time. Like I mentioned earlier, I dropped 55 pounds in the span of 6 months. Keep up the good work!

this is what I have learned:

if you drink soda, then stop drinking it. You can do this by first switching to the not so great diet sodas to dissuade you from drinking so much. You may want to use diluted juice etc to help. Eventually kill the soda off -- it is evil.

Soda is one of the main causes of obesity. A friend of mine is a scientist, and he did a ph test with soda. It was more acidic than some really bad chemicals (I can't remember which ones right now). Soda is bad for your teeth, digestive system, and weight. It has no nutritional value. It's just bad.

diet soda is full of fake sugar that kills off brain cells in clumps. On a scan these can be picked up as white spots in the brain.

If you like soda so much, get the natural fruit soda.
