OP - So what exactly are your current free test levels?

I had it checked a few years ago and it was in the low normal range. I forget the exact number. If its important, I can go look it up.

EDIT: Ok, looked it up. The test was Total Testosterone and the value was 417. The normal reference range is 241-827 ng/dL. So it sounds like I'm in the low middle. I guess they wont give me a prescription in that range.

Andrology is fairly complex. Was the above value a morning value, or close to whenever you normally get out of bed? That would be the peak value. Other issues are how sensitive your androgen receptors are and your level of dihydrotestosterone, which is more potent. Yes, there are drugs that modulate all of the above and they are all substances banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency for competitive sport. Another question is whether you are on any drugs at present that could lower testosterone levels.

Anabolic steroids and HGH can have adverse impact on your organs. You would do well to keep your focus on your health and not let body image issues ruin you. Sometimes you need to allow time to discover nature's provision. I enjoyed success as an endurance athlete years after bodybuilding. Triathlon training is good for the mind and the body.

This.......

You don't need them, you want them as a shortcut. I prefer steaks, squats & sex to keep mine elevated. Also keep in mind that cholesterol is a steroid and the basis for naturally occurring steroids. Hopefully you are not one of those people who throw the yolks out or think sat fat is the Anti-Christ.

The best advice I can give you is this: "Eat, Lift, Sleep, Repeat"

Eat like you are at an NFL training table
Lift like you are smallest & cutest guy in prison
Sleep like a newborn
Repeat the above with consistency

I think you mean the original author? I don't wan't performance-enhancing drugs. I believe strongly in fairness in sport.

As for cholesterol, you also produce it.

I do not have first hand experience with anabolic steroids, but I do have first hand experience with patients who have presented very serious health problems where anabolic steroids were identified or suspected as a contributing factor. (And when I say serious, I mean the life-threatening kind of serious).

That's not to say that all "juicers" are going to wind up in ICU, but they are certainly more likely to wind up there than if they hadn't used anabolic steroids.

If you are having image issues, you should probably note that acne is a common side effect of anabolic steroid use. If you are trying to bulk up because you don't like your look, you trading one issue for another.

kx250rider said it in one.

Don't use sterroids etc without the doctors professional guidance, "steroids" are killers and can destroy your internal organs. as well as "roid rage" and other menatal problems. you can aslo become imputant and can also generate female hormones. I.e grow breasts.

Be careful with experimentation of drugs.

That's awesome about getting down to 5.7%. What kind of diet do you use?

Thanks for the compliment! I missed this reply somehow until it bumped up today.

I basically eat exactly what I burn, and I eat many small meals per day in stead of one or two huge ones. I work out (lifting) religiously also; usually 3 days/week for 2-2.5 hours.

The prohormones are OK, but they really (in my experience) don't do enough. If you're under age 30, and you tested 417, that's the problem!! !! ! The standards are set to show that in the "normal" range, but it's not. A good doctor will think outside the box, and consider the symptoms, and realize that your system operates outside the range, and will decide a target testosterone level for you. My free total has to be 700+, or I don't metabolize protein properly, my blood pressure goes up, and my sex drive goes to zero. Bodybuilders (steroid abusers) can test as high as 1500 or 2000, which is DANGEROUS. To get a good endocrinologist, I'd search around on the internet for one in your area. I can probably recommend a good one in California, but I don't know what the rules on this forum are for giving such a referral. Might have to do that by PM or eMail. Only catch is that they're expensive. Mine charges $500 per visit 2x/year, plus about $600/year for the blood tests, and the cost of the testosterone is about $400/month for my doses. Unfortunately, my understanding is that no medical insurance will cover endocrinology, unless it's a life-threatening condition. I'd ask around, and maybe you can find a general practice doctor who is willing to help out. It's pretty straight-forward: Boost testosterone, and control estrogen down with Arimidex or other common oral drugs which are used for breast cancer prevention, and other things. But to echo what others and I said, DON'T FOOL AROUND with this stuff without a doctor's advice!

I know several people who have taken steroids. It certainly does pump you up but I think facially it makes people less attractive. Makes them too hard looking. I have known people to over do the steriods and they look scary.

You seem to know your stuff, it's nice to see a fellow bodybuilder on this site, hell we're even the same height.
