Once you've cut out the junk food and your taste buds adjust, you'll find them delicious.

^^^ Yes, and then you won't want to go back. If you can find the resolve to totally eliminate any kind of sweetener for a few days to a week, you will find that it only takes a tiny amount after that to be satisfied. Processed food will taste gross. Same goes for salt, although you need a small amount of unrefined salt.

Yup, that's it.
Avoid sugar and highly processed/refined foods.
I've also had to cut out coffee, but that's a topic of another thread.

Could you start a coffee thread? That is the one thing I have no self control over no matter how hard I try to cut it out.

It's almost always better to reduce carbohydrates first off, protein and fat are essential macro nutrients, carbs are not.

Where did you get that information from?

There is only one way to lose weight, and that is to consume fewer calories than you expend, there is no way around that.

Eat foods that are higher in Fiber-. Such as Oatmeal. You can have lean hamburger meat. Don't be afraid to have vegetables with some butter on it. If you want some "candy" try a zone bar. Chocolate fudge zone bars are pretty good. Aim to eat just a little bit less each day. Don't try to cut back too much too soon or it won't be sustainable.

Building muscle increases the basal metabolic rate as it is an expensive type of tissue to maintain.
So building muscle will cause your body to burn more calories even when you aren't exercising
