You're not supposed to wash down your food. It's should slowly glide down into the stomach and then be digested properly.

In regards to meds, you take a sip of water to help swallow the pills, and then that's it. A sip of water won't do much.

Your digestive tract already has fluid in it, to help the food glide down, working together with the muscles in the digestive tract, which slowly massage it downwards. Drinking too much water with meals is also a common reason for constipation btw.

I have never experienced this but I often take some raw apple cider vinegar before a meal. It is meant to aid digestion, I wonder if it might help with reflux too?

Does getting upset & stress cause acid reflux too?

It can, yes. Do you have a history of ulcers?

Ulcers are holes in your stomach, right? I get upset alot by my sister or another person in my family, but my sister can do the worse damage.

I find that bread is a no-no to have if I want to avoid reflux. Sometimes the acidic feeling is so strong I think I might breathe fire. Feels awful.

You can’t never have bread? Sometimes when I get acid reflux & it’s so strong, it feels sooo worse, like my throat is on fire & it’s hard to breathe.

Maybe the most common reason for acid reflux, is drinking water with meals.

Don't drink water 30 minutes(1 hour if you can manage it) before eating, this will weaken the stomach acid before eating.
Don't drink water sooner than 30 minutes after eating, this will interfere with the digestive process.

People often think the reason for acid reflux is too much acidity in the stomach, but it's actually the complete opposite. The stomach acid is not strong enough to digest the food properly, and the undigested food then pushes the stomach acid upwards. This is amplified especially if you drink alot of water with the meal.

I used to get acid reflux, and this completely solved it for me.

Drinking water can be the cause of acid reflux, interesting?

I suffer acid reflux and it sometimes wakes me up in the middle of the night trying to burp. Burping doesnt seem to relieve it though but i do take antiacids which dissolve the acid reflux and turns it into gas which i spend the next couple hours burping.

I have self-diagnosed acid reflux. I have the burning sensation in my chest and stomach and my throat is often sore and scratchy, I don't cough though. For me everything makes it worse, nothing makes it better when it really acts up but I just try to be a little healthier. I've been to the doctor and got prescribed medication that did not work and they checked me for intolerances, I did not have any but that's all they did. It really sucks.

have you tried Gaviscon? that has a nice marshmallowey flavor and creamy feel as it goes down your esophagus and soothes the acid burn. I use it, it works.
