Can allergies cause temp. insanity?
I am allergic to dustmites, grass, trees, mold, weeds, mice, and cats. I am receiving allergy shots for all but the cats. I have probably been allergic to them all for some time (maybe my whole life) but was only recently diagnosed as my mom brought me up on a strict regimine of "quit complaining, doctors are for people who are really sick".
I get horrible throbbing headaches which coinside with periods of anger. These headaches also coincide with allergy triggers (ie mold in the bathroom, taking kids for long nature walk on first day of pollen season.)
I become extremely fatigued. I also become massively depressed and irritable. Last night, after being outdoors all day with children, I broke down at my husband, literlay crying, screaming, drooling, stuttering, collapsing on the floor, - totally lost all control of emotional regulation. I then slept for 12 hours straight.
I have in the past been treated for depression unsuccessfully. My depressions do appear to be seasonal. Hubby has been trying to convince me to go on morning walks, as he thinks it is seasonal affected depressions, but I think the walks are making me worse now that the allergy season is coming up.
I have also had a pimply itchy rash all over my body since puberty. After putting my daughter on a gluten free diet I tried it as well. The rash went away and I no longer get bloated immediately after eating and my periods are not increadibly painful (which they used to be). Thus I am now not eating gluten. I received a negative celiac test.
I have had several MRI's since my last pregnancy, all normal.
I had the doctor do a full blood test. Everything looks excellent for a person my age.
Any ideas what is going on?
Im not too far from you really. But one day I sampled a can of Men's Nair. Turned out that 8 minutes was too long and was quite painful. But despite the pain and discomfort, I was actually laughing with coworkers and having fun (and looking for something to put on my legs during break). I also went to play at a friends house that night after work, and realized that the dozen cats running around their house didnt effect me that night, where on a normal night I would have to leave early due to constant sneezing and dripping nose. Linking that to a similar circumstance where a friend died, which I think the sadness pretty much snapped me back into "this" world, led me to rethink something I saw about a drug called LDN (Naltrexone):

Theory: Endorphins are released from crying, pain, discomfort, chocolate, sex, etc. They shift the T2 helper white blood cells into T1. T2 are of coarse the ones responsible for allergies and it seems like someone with alot of allergies out of control might have an overactive T2. Endorphins are also created mostly at night (the timeframe of both events).
So I decided to try an experiment. The next Saturday, during work, I focused on every single bit of discomfort around me. Just my luck it was also freezing cold and raining outside so I spent what was atleast an hour outside focusing on nothing but the discomfort. When it was over, I clocked out, so freezing cold and soaking wet I couldnt do anything buy massively shiver for atleast 5 or so minutes in my car, drove immediatly to my friends house and played with their cat. Sniffed it, and hugged it. Rubbed some kitty in my eyes. Most I got was a little bit of eye irritation. Not a single sneeze. Apparently my nose actually worked, because I realized I was "sniffing" kitty as part of the test.
After a long struggle to actually get ahold of a Dr to Rx some to me, I have not had any problems being around cats anymore while on it. Last week my friends cat was asleep, so I played with the cat toy instead with no allergic reaction. My nose, which I had previously described to the prescribing doctor as a "huge decoration", now actually functions sometimes. I dont know how it affects the autism, but I suspect the fact that I can breath out of my nose at times now, where I couldnt for all my life might be helping somewhere.
So... might be worth a try to break a bone or something around 10PM at night and see how it effects you too. OK, probrobly wouldnt go that far, although I did think about it before finally getting the RX myself. Defently something worth looking into though.
Orthomolecular physicians have theorized that when histamine is released from its storage sites, it circulates and can cause inflammation in any part of the body, including the brain. They call it a cerebral allergy. My preferred allergy treatments - bowel tolerance doses of vitamin C and an air purifier.
My headaches are also bad with bad weather. Storms, falling barromiters, high humidity.
If the headaches continue I will kill myself.
I can't read to my kids, let alone play with them or care for them.
I am a burden on my husband.
Sometimes it feels like my brain is shaking. Sometimes like my brain is swelling and pushing against my skull. My eyes itch and my sinuses throb. I have no energy. Bending up and down makes me dizzy and nauseus.
I want to die.
