This was yesterday. Collingwood won it.

Why a replay? Well last week was the Grand Final between Collingwood and St Kilda. It ended in a draw. In the event of a draw in the Grand Final instead of having extra time they have a replay game the next week and if the replay ends in a draw they add extra time to the replay.

What do u think of this concept of a replay game instead of extra time?
I am sure the AFL won't change the rules because they made loads of money and because there isn't often a draw in the GF.
This was the 3rd time in a century that there was a draw.

I don't have any interest in AFL and during the week leading up to the drawn game I'd taken a couple of days off work to stay home and avoid the hoo-hah (I work in East Melbourne and travel through the city). I did actually listen to the last quarter of that game and during the final few minutes the commentators started talking about a replay in the event of a draw. Couldn't believe it! I was just looking forward to the football season finishing (along with aforementioned hoo-hah) and it looked like there'd be another week of it. So, I was pretty disappointed when it ended in a draw.

I had no idea about the rules - I'd assumed they would go into extra time to finish it off. Seems a perfectly reasonable way to settle a draw and it would likely only take a few minutes. Andrew Demetriou's half-assed attempt to justify a replay the following day had me in stitches! I sent him an email suggesting that the windfall revenue could be put to excellent use in furthering their anti-violence campaign launched in partnership with the State Govt. on Sep. 15 (erm...did anyone hear about that one??). No response as yet. :?

Anyway, the week seemed pretty low-key but I took Friday off again just in case. This time I made sure to listen closely to the entire game on the (somewhat dodgy!) theory that my inattention the prior week had somehow contributed to a draw. Well...perhaps I went overboard with the vibes this time around

Do you have a link that allows viewers in my 'region' to see the game highlights?

Maybe, Collingwood dominated. Would have been good if they or St Kilda had done it the first week.

AD's line "the AFL is a not for profit organisation" made me laugh my head off. the 19 million or something like that that they made from the replay could be put to excellent use.
Anyway I am just glad the season is over now.
