Hello. I thinking of purchasing the P90X once I have a job and some pay, but that will be when I'm older, and 2013 is a road block for me, because, well, the UMD warns of a nation-wide terrorist attack by then. Anyway, Does P90X really work? Because I did a search on Yahoo! Answers and everyone said yes, but since people on WP I view are more legitimate than anyone in general, I need your opinion if you tried it.

P90x from what I've read on a few reputable bodybuilding sites says it's legit. There are a lot of people on bodybuilding.com who swear by it. Although, if you are looking to become huge and thick you will need to do more than just a p90x plan.

I have my own pullup bar and weights, made my own plan and it works.. All you need to do is find a workout routine/schedule that works for you that will help achieve your goals.

p90x is not a sustainable program. if you do p90x expect muscle tears, strains, overuse injury, hernia, back pain two-five years down the road.

start with doing pushups and safe crunches
after a few weeks get some 5 pund weights and start building your biceps, triceps, and shoulders. don't overdo. you want to avoid injury. muscles need 24 hours to rebuild after a work out. so don't exercise twice a day. just once in the morning is enough.

eat salads rather than cheseburgers.

don't overload yourself with protein or meat. just a little pinky-sized piece of white meat (chicken or fish) is enough protein for a body builder. the protein powder is a myth really. your body only uses less than 1 gram of protein per kilogram of weight. if you eat lots of meat or protein powder your body has to work hard to break the protein down and excrete it. this puts a lot strain on liver and kidney and gives you kidney stones.

No doubt, excess protein can cause problems, but there is no agreement on what excess protein is. There are several studies showing that increasing protein for the average person can improve kidney function, lower blood pressure, etc. The Mediterranean diet, for example, is higher in protein than the average western diet.

The amount of extra protein you would need to ingest to cause problems, is far more then most people would ever get in their diet. The people who have problems with it are generally the people who overdo it with the protein powder stuff(plus eat lots of meat, and eat protein bars etc...)

Bump

P90x works for me, I had to modify the program though. I took out plyo, yoga, and kempo, as they don't really seem to be neccessary. Instead, I do chest and back, arms and shoulders, legs and back twice a week, and of course switch them with each phase. I don't think you'll have to worry about the overworking of your body with this program if you do it right. Tony seems to stress that you should do 8-10 reps for size or 12-15 for lean. The problem is, if your like me and trying to get bulk, 8-10 isn't enough for the weight that I'm comfortable with. If I go a weight higher, I risk hurting myself (tennis elbow) and quit the program. So, instead of picking the heaviest weight I can do and do 8-10 reps, I pick the weight I'm comfortable with and do max reps, forget 12-15. You might have to push pause to get your reps done, but this is the safer way to do it.

Also, I noticed that I wasn't getting anything out of pull-ups. That was because it wasn't working my back out correctly. So I went to resistance bands. The move is so much easier, which was why I was suprised that I was actually seeing better results than with the pull-up bar.

Fitness is a lifestyle, not a product.

Save your pennies. Eat healthy, run, bike, lift free weights, swim, etc...

You don't even need a gym membership.

I got the program today, actually. So I can't say if it works yet. I got some used DVDs (and the guides) on Craigslist, people often sell it on there and on ebay so you can get it cheaper than on the infomercial.

I know of some people who do it...I don't know them personally, more like a friend of a friend. One is a marine, one is a model. They are both in good shape (obviously). From doing the workout today, it wasn't as hard as it looks from the infomercials. I think it's smart to be walking/some other kind of exercise until you get the plan, but I don't think you would get injured doing it or anything (of course it's possible, but I don't think it's a great risk).

Of course I think there are other ways to get in shape, but this might be convenient. That's a big reason why I'm trying it.

Honestly, I've doing this program for a portion of the last year. I haven't got results like those in the infomercial, but it might be because I haven't been able to go through all 3 phases yet, because something will come up and I can't do it for awhile, and just start over when I get back to it. It's really hard keeping up with it. I've actually started phase 2 with a modified program of just the day 1, 3, 5 twice a week with a rest day in between the back work out.

If you want the six pack, you'll probably have to run, unless your skinny as a bean pole.
