Here is my exercise/diet routine for most days of the week.
Sleep in until lunchtime
Have fruit and a plate of uncle bens rice for breakfast
at 1:00 in the afternoon do a combination of intense cycling and running for roughly 2 hours
At 3:00 in the afternoon finish exercising and come back home.
After exercising I eat 2 slices of toast with cheese or marmite, have 1 banana and a fruit yogurt
I also will drink a few pints of water and have a pint of milk as well
At 8:00 in the evening I have dinner for example I might have pasta or chicken. It varies a lot what I have for dinner.
Judging from the above info do I need to add a bit more food to my diet after exercising? And if so what extra food do I need to add?
By the way I am 5ft7 inches tall and currently weigh 142 pounds. I am 24 years old.
Being overweight my entire life almost, I finally had to have lapband in 2011. I'm so glad I did. I've lost 100 lbs since then and, while I never look like a model, I feel healthier and that's the important thing.
I don't have Aspergers myself but, my 7 year old daughter does and I swear that girl will eat all day until it hurts if I let her. I try to watch how I say things to her because I've read (of course reading is all I can do because I'll never be able to fully understand what it's like for her) that children especially girls with Aspergers can develop eating disorders. So I try not to use the F (fat) word when encouraging her to eat healthy. That said, it sounds like you value a healthy life but, and pls don't take this the wrong way from the perspective of a NT person, it sounds almost like obsessive behavior for you. So, I encourage you to be careful. I'm sure you know what you are doing but I just wanted to put that out there in case.
When I had my surgery, the surgeon did a seminar with several patients that were scheduled on the same day. I learned a lot about food and what to eat not to eat. He really stressed the importance of protein. So, maybe you could add a protein shark shake or two to your diet to supplement. They recommended muscle milk and a few others because, muscle milk (which I preferred because it tastes really good, has the highest protein content vs far and carbs. It has really low carbs and again tastes really good. He also said not to mix it up with cows milk or even lactaid (because it still has lactase which causes your surgar levels to go higher than even actual surgar does). Instead they said to mix with soy or almond milk. I've been hearing a lot of good things about coconut milk too.
So that's my input HTH.
