I haven't had motion sickness when travelling since I was a child, but now I've been getting it again when travelling. It's a very unusual type of sickness, because when I was a child and had motion sickness, I would feel nauseous in my stomach and my mouth would fill up with loads of saliva and I would feel my stomach ready to want to vomit, which is what's supposed to happen. But now when I get motion sickness, it starts off by dizziness, then a severe empty feeling in my stomach, then my mouth goes horribly dry, I keep yawning, and suddenly gag uncontrollably but nothing comes up. I don't get a feeling of nausea or a funny stomach or anything like that.

For the last few weeks I've been feeling really unwell when I'm hungry, which then tricks my mind into thinking that it's not hunger but a tummy bug instead, then I don't want to eat anything, and then it begins a vicious cycle. I do have severe Emetophobia and I think that is getting worse. I am so terrified of vomiting. Could it be this? I did go to the doctor and he had a look at my ears and said they were fine, then took my blood pressure and said that's fine too. I eat fruit quite a lot and drink milk, and I've also been eating more vegetables lately, and I eat healthy meats like beef, chicken and tuna fish. All of that is supposed to be good if it is some important type of vitamins that I'm lacking, but I still come over unwell when travelling. Not every time I travel, it just happens randomly.

On Saturday I got on a bus and I came over very unwell. I was surprised, because I had eaten beforehand. I had a piece of toast in the morning and a drink, then I came over hungry again before the bus ride so I brought a plain ham sandwich and ate that before getting the bus, which made me feel better. But when I was riding along on the bus I suddenly began to feel very dizzy, even though I was sitting at the front with fresh air blowing on me from an open window. My mouth started to go really dry, and I suddenly gagged but nothing came up. Surely it must be to do with my ears and definitely NOT my stomach, or could it be psychological because of having Emetophobia? I had a bad experience with a severe case of vomiting and diarrhoea going around at work last winter, and I felt so frightened of picking it up (luckily I didn't), and now winter is soon going to come again and I'm scared there will be vomiting and diarrhoea again at work. Perhaps I'm worrying about it too much and it's now on my mind?
