Kitty, regretful that nobody answered you before now. I had pins and plates inserted in my elbow after a shattering accident in 2012. it is not the same elbow as it was before, it took a year before it finally started to heal into some semblance of normal function, the elbow is one of the toughest ones to heal right after a break. if your elbow is typical, it will not appear to function quite the way it did before your surgery. this is normal. but If you have at least 140 degrees of motion in it [typically 5 degrees off of maximum extension before the accident] up to about 30 degrees from maximum flexion [bending towards shoulder], if you're lucky maybe 10 degrees more bending].
