I think I suffer from social anxiety sometimes, especially in unfamiliar situations. Most of the time it's fine, but occasionally my heart rate will increase, my chest will feel tight and I'll find it really hard to think of anything to say to anyone. I find it really cocks up my social abilities, as eye contact will become harder and generally I'll become more shy (normally I'm fairly outgoing with a hint of shy). Does anyone know which anti-anxiety medicines may help with my situation?

Some coffee could be good to motivate you to be more social. There are some social videogames to help practice. I've had some ant-anxiety medication but i dont like it because it makes me tired and decreases my interest in things I like.

I was put on Sertraline for anxiety (panic attacks). It worked but there are many side-effects. For me, sertraline had less side-effects than either fluoxetine or citalopram.
