I agree with you that you checking to see if it's delusional thinking and worrying about it is more classic OCD and shows insight, and that is most likely what your therapist will say, too. But I want to point out that OCD and schizophrenia do indeed occur comorbidly in a subset of the schizophrenia population; it is a very real phenomenon. Thought broadcasting and other first-rank Schneiderian symptoms aren't very different from OCD fears I've had about people being able to hear the nasty obsessional thoughts I've said about them. "Did I say that out loud? Did they hear my thoughts?" Very close in content, although with insight, to thought broadcasting.

Hopefully I still have insight. I have been having these thoughts for over a year now (since May 2016) and they only started after I read about them online. It just seems like they've taken a disturbing turn recently. It's like my mind is trying everything possible to make me believe these thoughts (I know they are my own thoughts). Schizophrenics are much more likely to have OCD, but most people with OCD aren't much more likely to have schizophrenia (unless, of course, there is a genetic link- which I don't have). Thank you for clarifying- I hope you are doing alright.

Wanted to pop in again and say that seeing days of the week and months of the year in specific shapes is considered by some to be a form of synesthesia called spatial-sequence synesthesia. I have it, although I personally am on the fence about it being synesthesia or not since it is not a "blending of the senses" like classic grapheme-color synesthesia or seeing musical tones as color. I also have ticker-tape synesthesia, which also is a rarer variety.

Wow- that's pretty cool. I'm not going to consider myself as having synesthesia, but it's awesome that I at least have traits because it is really cool to think like that (at least that's what Britte experiences, which is great :D ).

I know- it must be so amazing to have it! The closest I come is with my visualizing the months of the year as a shape and having certain colors for numbers and letters, but that's because I had letter and number puzzles when I was little and memorized all the colors the letters were in, so that's most likely not synesthesia eithet  .

Stampy I'm sorry to hear you're having such a hard time sleeping.(every now and then that happens to me and I hate it!)

To me it sounds like what you are going through is schizophrenia. Some have said that hormones and other things occuring during puberty can cause that to happen. I read that problems with the brain's structure can cause schizophrenia as well, and that it can develop over years. But, I'm not a doctor so it's best to tell a therapist about it.

Earlier you were asking if I was okay, maybe I should ask you the same... SSF are you okay?

You have much more experience than I do. Thank you for that advice on the "twinge of doubt"- it's quite useful. If you don't have OCD, then nobody does :D ! I sometimes try to find the reasons behind these thoughts, but sometimes there isn't a reason.

Thank you for all your support today :D .

It's funny you mention extreme male brain. My GF ( who's a very likely candidate for ASD ) believes she has a male brain while from what I've read about ASD there's a theory of a female/male version , I definitely feel like I have the female version  What a pair we are

I'm glad you found my advice useful but for me there is always a reason for the thoughts but sometimes it's not always apparent.
You really need to try and relax , distract or whatever helps you the most , your not going to drive yourself insane worrying about it but you are distressing yourself which is really sad to read about , tell you mum to give you a big hug ( if your ok with hugging ) , mums are great like that :D

Wow, what a great match! Do I have schizophrenia? AquaineBay said I did, but he doesn't know what Schiz OCD is- right?! !?

Yeah, I bet there is always a reason for my thoughts as well and I just don't realize it. It's funny because sometimes I "forget" to have the delusional thought. For example, I was eating a doughnut and I would normally get the intrusive thought that there was so something in it or it was poisoned. I forgot to have the thought lol! I'm getting better with hugging, so I'll try that :D .

I'm no psychiatrist but you have very similar symptoms to me and is has been my worst fear for decades. Consequently I have had at least 3 different psychiatrist tell me in no uncertain terms that I do not have schizophrenia but never told me exactly what was wrong with me. I have been locked up on pysch wards full of schizophrenics and I've felt like the sanest person in there ( it's not the right place for me ) , I am nothing like any schizophrenic I have met and I have met lots although I felt a lot of empathy for them.

No, I don't think you're schizophrenic. I think (like you said) that you read up on symptoms, and you "adopt" them, so to speak. Maybe part of OCD?

One cannot diagnose somebody with schizophrenia over the Internet.

AquaineBay is basing his opinion on what he knows , do you think he has a good knowledge of psychiatric illnesses?

I don't think his comment was very helpful to you in your current state of mind but I know he didn't mean it in a bad way.

I know you can't diagnose me, but I really hope this is all OCD. I forgot to mention that I have breaks when I rarely have paranoid thoughts and I 100% don't believe them. This can last from days to months. It just seems like when I have one and I don't automatically resist it I start panicking and then I start having tons of paranoid thoughts. It can be part of OCD to adopt symptoms- it's basically hypochondria. Thank you so much :D .
