Basically, I have hypochondriasis, which make me terrified of certain mental (and sometimes physical) disorders (schizophrenia being one of them). OCD can do some weird things sometimes, as it seems you have also experienced, so I basically convince myself I have mild schizophrenia as well. I just didn't want you or anyone else to be offended that I fear it, but it seems like the diagnosis was incorrect for you as well. We have another ferret  here who shares my fear as well, so please don't be offended by our fears! We don't have a whole lot of control over what we worry and obsess about :D .

Thank you, you seem like a very lovely person as well :D ! I don't know what this "typical" OCD is, though!

Oh I see. I don't have this but I love reading about mental conditions for insight and also out of pure interest.
I'm not easily affected by other people's fears luckily and I won't get offended. I got to have a short conversation with SaveFerris once about this and I don't know what is with all this ferret thing (I started working last month so I can't be as active as I used to be) but it's still very cute because I love ferrets haha and also I always misread his name too.

I said typical, as I nearly don't have any compulsion, also I thought hallucinations are not very common with OCD though I might be wrong about that.

We did indeed have a chat about things but I was not aware of schiz-OCD when we last talked and I believe when I used the term psychotic episodes it may not have been that as I've always had insight ( I'm not a Doctor so who knows ).

That's good :D . I'm glad you won't be too influenced by our stupid fears! The ferret thing is a long story.........

Do you have "Pure-O" OCD? It's basically a type of OCD where you experience mental compulsions instead of physical. It is rare to have OCD without any compulsions, but it is possible. I'd have to research more on hallucinations and OCD. There are some people out there with OCD and hallucinations, though.

Hi SaveFerris, did you see my responses to you on pages 29 and 30? I quoted you a few times, and I told you about my avatar. While I realize you may not have anything to say in reply, I want to make sure you actually saw my posts in the midst of my conversation with Stampy and all the things you had to do. :)

Sorry DataB4 , I thought I had replied to all your posts , I will check back through them now.

I do sometimes read posts and start a reply , get sidetracked , forget , move on.

DataB4 , I can't even begin to comprehend how you navigate this forum, and do all the things that a person with sight does without thinking e.g. knowing that you have been quoted in a post etc.
( I'm also now analysing the words I am writing as I know a computer is going to speak it to you and am wondering if the English spelling of some of my words make a difference ).
I'm thinking about the computer in 2001: A Space Odyssey called Hal saying "I am afraid I can't do that Dave" ( now my mind is telling me to delete that joke as you may not know what I am on about  )

As for the droid avatar ( R5D4 if I'm not mistaken ) I did type out a reply to that but changed my mind and deleted it.

The gist of the post was would you like me to find or design you a Star Trek avatar , as long as you are not in a rush for it.

Pretty much , although more questions have arrived in my mind since the visit

I read 2 words today that seemed appropriate to me - analysis-paralysis.

Haha yep, that's generally how it goes :D . I went to my friend's birthday party yesterday, and for a few hours, my depression went away. That didn't stop my paranoid/anxious thoughts, though! Analysis paralysis is a good term for us  .

That's good that your depression lifted for a while but a shame that your anxious thoughts didn't stop , I suppose that proves that they are OCD related?
Did you have party food? Please make me incredibly envious and list some of the party food that was there. Do you have jelly ( Jell-O ) and blancmange over there. :D

I'm also not a doctor obviously but I think you might still have insight and be psychotic. Also you don't even need to be schizophrenic to be psychotic.
I kept hallucinating, aware of the fact that what I was seeing/hearing/sensing was not real, for a long time.

I personally think that I might have Pure-O but it isn't specified in my papers. But when I was younger I had many physical compulsions. Last time I had a visibly compulsive period was four years ago when I obsessed over food, calories, carbs etc. I was acting like an anorexic and became one very soon. However my fear didn't arise because I thought skinny people were all awesome and I was too fat (I was already slightly underweight). But I felt like food was poison.

I couldn't find a certain link between OCD and hallucinations. Depression certainly has a link though.

Another thing that I normally don't mention to my doctors (because it's funny rather than problematic) is that I live in a cartoon world lol. Not sure if these things can be called hallucinations but I see exaggerated expressions of emotions, visualised non-visual sensory input etc. Just like in cartoons. Time to time I can't differentiate between dream and reality. I think these experiences are a product of my a bit too strong imagination. And that reminds me of this quote: 'The best use of imagination is creativity, the worst use of imagination is anxiety'

Hopefully they are OCD related. My depression also probably is a result of my OCD, as my serotonin levels are so low any minor disappointment can make them go so low I get very numb and just not like myself at all.

We have Jello, but there wasn't any there :D . We had an amazing layered vanilla cake, cookies, nice juicy hamburgers and hot dogs, chips (or crisps  ), and lots of nice drinks. It was very nice, and we were in the pool for hours!

My friend that I eat lunch with at school was there, and we figured out that we have the same lunch time again this year! There was also another girl there who I am kind of friends with, but I'm convinced she's a prodromal schizophrenic, since she says she sees things and has some bizarre thoughts sometimes. Yesterday she said something about one of our classmates being an assassin (seriously!) and I'm obsessing over whether I believe that today. Not only do I have to deal with my own paranoid thoughts, now I have to check to see if I believe other people's! :D

I had a lot of thoughts about "poison" and whatnot, but I still ate the food, so I think I'm good on insight 8) ! We don't have blac-whatever here, though! What is that?

I don't care what SaveFerris comes up with or what thoughts he has/"believes" or hallucinations or whatever- he's clearly a hypochondriac like me :D . The thing with hypochondria is it can very easily take on the form of another condition. It's like a "chameleon disorder" or something. You cannot have insight and be psychotic. It is impossible, because the definition of psychosis precludes insight. I know I'm going to get into an argument about this :D . Sorry!

Komomanga, what you experience with hallucinations and OCD is very interesting to me, even though I am scared of hallucinating myself :D . Look up Schizo-obsessive disorder, if you want. It's basically OCD and schizophrenia comorbid, but the OCD prevents you from losing all insight. I think it would explain a lot, but I'm not a doctor either! :D

If I have OCD ( it's looking very likely ) it definitely attributes to depression :(

Sounded like a good party and a pool party at that ( I've never been to a pool party ).

About your friend. Yeah I have spent time around schizophrenics and sometimes I think I empathised too much with them and tried to rationalise their problems ( in my mind ). When I was in hospital there were a handful of schizophrenics and I remember my feelings back then that I was not the same and could see huge differences ( I know not everyone's the same ) , most never seemed bothered by their paranoid thoughts.

Blancmange is a dessert made of milk, sugar, and sometimes almonds. It's usually served cold in a mold ( almost always rabbit shaped at parties ) . It's kind of like vanilla pudding and is usually pink.

Don't get into an argument , get into a healthy discussion backed up with facts. If it gets too much just take a break.
