He has some traits, I believe. He hates small talk, questions eye contact and things like that, prefers to plan ahead, doesn't care about social norms or what others think, and he has friends with other conditions as well (ADHD, possible ASD, and an eating disorder). He's great, isn't he :D ?

From that video he seems like a very nice genuine bloke and found a great way of monetizing his passion ( he has a net worth of $8 million 8O )

I'm gonna start making minecraft videos and make a character called Save Ferrets , I'm sure I could make at least a few dollars doing that , I estimate $6 and 50 cents

I have been feeling better, thanks for asking. Very happy to see you're back, I will be looking forward to seeing which avatar you choose next. People seem to like my avatar so guinea pig in armor it is.

So glad to hear that you have been feeling better, blackicmenace, and, thank you for your kind sentiments. I like your avatar, indeed, and not sure what I will choose for my next one. Perhaps I will just reuse the photo of myself. Or, I used to like utilizing photos of architecture I like, and photos of 'Art's and Architecture' magazine covers. Rambling. Jeeze, have been rambling, a lot, these days. :skull:

I think it's the type of anxiety that's the difference , with OCD I think the compulsions are done to stop something bad happening due to an an irrational thought like if I don't clean the house, me or a loved with contract a horrible infection. The cleaning is the compulsion in OCD.
With ASD I think a cleaning might be because you like things to look clean & tidy but I doubt you have irrational thoughts about harming someone if you don't clean. It just feels better when it's clean , with OCD it will never be clean enough or at least not clean enough for long.
I think when someone is stopped from doing their special interest the only bad thing that happens is your mood changes and the other associated things , anger , meltdown , depression etc I don't believe there are obsessional thoughts that may trigger a compulsive behaviours

I could be wrong , Stampy will put be right if I wrong :D

Yes i never ever thought my family would get infected or the house would be condemned if it wasnt clean or that us kids will be taken away. I just liked things clean. I never engaged in compulsive behavior by doing it over and over until its right. In fact i enjoy cleaning and it always relaxed me like how reading relaxes my mother. But that doesn't mean I want people to make messes to make it more work. There are things i do everyday like sweeping and vacuuming because that is called life. I am now teaching my kids to clean up and throw their trash away.

But don't you get anxiety if your routines are disrupted and what if someone prevented you from cleaning and what if someone made a mess and didn't clean it? Did you like the house clean or did you just liked to clean and would hate it if everyone were neat and always cleaned and picked up after themselves before you could do it?

Also isn't it anxiety if an aspie can't engage in an interest because they would have meltdowns and shut downs and be anxious without their obsession? How many times here have people written how they would get depressed or suicidal without their interest and have meltdowns if someone took away their special interest and one member wrote here how he would punch holes in walls whenever his mom took away his special interests.

I wouldn't have had anxiety about cleaning if my family just followed my rules and I did fine when they did follow my rules about being clean. I didn't have those anxious feelings when cleaning until my family got out of control.

I think my anxiety, OCD and autism look so much alike and the same I bet even the psychiatrist couldn't figure it out (even though he specialized in autism and AS) so he gave me all three diagnoses. Yes ASD people get anxiety too when someone moves their things or when their routines get disrupted or when others don't follow the rules, etc.

I was also told OCD was part of AS.

I got anxious and very overwhelmed when I couldn't clean something as part of my routine. I also got very annoyed when someone else would clean something or put it in the wrong place. Maybe I am wrong. I honestly don't know.

I get what you mean about ASD anxiety, but OCD anxiety is different, at least in my experience. When I am obsessing over something, my thoughts nag me over and over, and every time I ignore them and try to brush it off it just gets stronger until I can't bear it anymore. It isn't even anxiety sometimes- sometimes it becomes depression, but I still ruminate over my thought and try to make it stop by performing a compulsion.

I'm 13, so I'm probably not the best expert to judge whether you have OCD or ASD :D . However, I can vouch that OCD isn't part of AS, although the faulty brain wiring (from AS) can cause OCD, as it seems so in my case. There are many people out there who have OCD who don't have AS and vice versa, so even though it is more common in AS, it certainly isn't always part of it. Like I said, it's really up to how you feel or felt when you had this. It could even be something like borderline OCD that was caused by the AS. I've read some of your other posts about your psychiatrist, and he doesn't seem very good! He sounds like the one I went to once before. I don't blame him for not being able to tell the difference, but honestly, he is a professional! You'd think he would give you some answers :D .

I remember I would get upset with my aunt for doing the dishes because I couldn't make any money then if she was always doing them and my mom got mad at me for getting upset about it. Then one day she did something wrong with the dishes because she misunderstood what I wanted and I got upset about it too.

Yeah I can relate to the compulsion of if you ignore it, it gets stronger and stronger. I did that with my mattress thing when my parents got me a new bed. I thought the mattress was slipping off the bed so I had to push up against it and I did this every few minutes before falling asleep. Now that is OCD. Then when I was an adult, I always had to pull the sheets back down because my husband would roll in bed and pull the sheets up and I don't like it when sheets come undone but that is not OCD because it is not the same feeling and all I am doing is just fixing the sheet and I got diaper pins to keep those sheets down so I wouldn't have to fix it every time.

About my psychiatrist, he was the only person in the area who specialized in ASDs and knew about AS. He was one of the few doctors then who knew about AS and knew about it before it came to the US. I got referred to him for, ADD and OCD, and Asperger's. what was wrong with your psychiatrist and what did you experience with him? Did he also not know the difference and had troubles figuring it out what you had?

It seems like in my area, all the doctors say OCD is autism and part of it and call symptoms of it OCD unless it was just a coincidence. A therapist I was seeing briefly also called it OCD and said it was autism because I told her I would wring my wrists in public whenever I was stressed or overwhelmed and she said it was OCD and part of autism. My mom says I was very difficult to diagnose. We had to see the psychiatrist for a few months before he even decided with AS when before he had autistic spectrum disorder, mild, basically is PDD-NOS. It seems like in my area no doctor likes to hand out a NOS label because I got diagnosed with anorexia nervosa in my early twenties even though I wasn't underweight and I still got my monthly cycles unless it was also a coincidence. I had an eating disorder yes but I think that came from OCD because I had a fear of gaining weight and getting fat so I had low potassium and I wasn't losing any weight. You would think I would be working out if I was so worried about my weight but the problem was I feared I would put on weight from working out because of muscle and I would feel fat still. I also think I have some body dysmorphia because I see this big girl in the mirror and a big butt and thighs and I am not happy with my body type. I had learn to ignore it because if I keep losing weight, I would look anorexic and I still wouldn't be happy with my body because my butt is still too big or my belly needs to be flatter so I realized in my 20's I will never be happy with my body and it will always look big no matter how much weight I lose. I had this realization when I dropped down to 119 after I had my son and saw bones in my back. I think OCD can also cause eating disorders so therefore eating disorders can be part of it meaning they can cause them like how autism can cause OCD as you said. Maybe that is what my mom meant when she told me it was part of it and my school counselor told me the same.

That's pretty much all right  ! I don't know why a 13 year old is the go to expert on OCD here, but I'm glad to help if I'm allowed. Assuming I am because I like to talk a lot, especially about this sort of thing, I will  :D ! Sorry!

The only main thing I would like to add is that there is one type of OCD that doesn't involve stopping bad things from happening. There are still negative feeling associated with it, but it is known as "Just Right OCD", I believe. There are very strong negative feelings attached to the compulsions, however. Here is an article: https://blogs.psychcentral.com/ocd-refl ... right-ocd/ .

Thanks for letting me blab on and on, Ferris :D !

I had compulsive hand washing briefly in the 4th grade because I got into hygiene and then cared about being clean and neat and cared about my appearance. Kids made comments to me I stunk and stuff so it got me to care. So I started to wash my hands a lot because I always thought they were dirty. I wasn't afraid of germs or thought I had dirt on them, I just thought they were dirty because i would see dry skin and I wanted to have pretty hands so I would wash them to make them look smooth but instead they got dryer and dryer and more white so i would wash them to get rid of that look and then my skin was cracking on my hands. My mom came home one day with hand lotion telling me to use that on my hands and my hands are that way because I had been washing them too much and they wreck the skin. I stopped the excessive hand washing and only used lotion instead and I found I only needed to use lotion to make my skin smooth and look pretty and water isn't going to do it. I also didn't like the feel of dry hands so I would use lotion. Apparently with OCD that wouldn't work but for me it did. I know with OCD you can't stop someone's compulsion even if you tell them about it while my mom told me and I stopped just like that, boom. :? I just didn't know what water does to your hands if exposed to water too much and I know now it does not make your hands smoother. An OCD person knows this but can't stop while I did after I got the information.

Not sure if this is all OCD related but I used to worry about my boobs getting too big and that they would get bigger and bigger because it happened to my mother. I didn't stop worrying until she told me she had something wrong with her so her boobs didn't know when to quit growing and then they stopped after she had the surgery.

I used to worry about I was going crazy (schizophrenia) because my aunt has it and I knew it could be genetic and I thought I was going delusional when I would miss hear words or when others would remember things differently than me or when I would hear sounds and others wouldn't notice it. I wasn't looking for reassurance when I would talk about it. My mom would get mad at me about it whenever I would worry and my therapist was the only one who took me seriously and listened so they asked me all these questions and I answered no to all of them and he said I wasn't a schizophrenic. Then when I watched A Beautiful Mind, I never worried about I was going crazy again.

I used to have these sort of worries and I have gotten better at it because they are not as extreme.

Does anyone else with diagnosed OCD not able to relate to other OCDers or rarely relate because they don't have the same symptoms as you do or the same issues or their reasons behind their symptoms are different than yours?

I haven't been diagnosed so cannot answer but there is an obsessive–compulsive spectrum so it's quite possible to relate to some people with OCD and not to others ? , but I'm guessing if you have OCD you should be able to definitely relate to the anxiety involved with OCD especially if you do a lot of research on it.

League_Girl, I can relate to some of what you say and I don't believe the diagnosis was completely incorrect, but maybe you have a type of OCD that is just not very common.

Keep in mind that OCD is very irrational, unlike GAD where the person worries about events that could possibly happen. They both involve rumination and worrying. I am in no way I'm playing that you have GAD, but I am pointing out that some of your worries seem to be a little more rational than others. Particularly what you mentioned about schizophrenia. There are people with OCD who have schizophrenic relatives who fear going crazy, but the fear doesn't normally stop after watching "A Beautiful Mind." This is where the irrationality of OCD plays in. For instance, there is a test online known as the Hollow Mask Illusion. I took it a few months ago, and I passed (meaning that I will never go insane, I am not insane, and never will be). That didn't get rid of any anxiety for me, in fact, it created even more. Now whenever I think of that test I get so anxious because, well, goodness knows why! It just shows you how irrational OCD can be even when faced with evidence. Not implying that any of this is/isn't true for you of course, as I don't know you that well.

My idiotic psychiatrist visit was terrible. To begin with, he pulled me out in the middle of class in front of all my friends/acquaintances whatever. I had horrible anxiety the whole time, and it was slightly uncomfortable being in a dark little room with no windows. He asked me questions, and when I gave my honest answer of what I thought, he would contradict it. I thought this was my appointment  ! Why can't I say anything? My mom had told him I had OCD /hypochondriasis, so maybe he just thought this was another obsession of mine and I didn't really have autism, despite the fact that I don't worry about having autism and have shown symptoms since birth.

It's very odd how the doctors in your area think that autism and OCD are the same thing. They are completely different things from what I've read and heard. They may be referring to the obsessive-compulsive symptoms seen in autism, like lining up toys. But since the motivation behind the behavior is completely different, I don't think it is right to call them the same thing. I don't know why you would be diagnosed with anorexia nervosa. I definitely agree with you- the doctors in your area seem to hate NOS diagnoses. It's a little weird, to be honest! :D

Sorry if I didn't reply to everything; I'm on a touch screen and it is difficult to see everything you wrote :D .
