I can't really think of a good title and maybe this is not even the best forum but I really don't know what to think exactly. I created a thread about one issue that has become quite minor now....but I keep having instances of feeling detatched from myself its happened on occasion in the past but seems to have sort of increased. Also my brain will not stop obsessing over ridiculous ideas.....like this morning I could not get rid of the idea that when my brother went to go hang out with our cousin that they where probably talking s**t about me. I know its ridiculous I mean I just hung out with her a couple days ago and me and my brother have not been in any arguments lately so there was no reason for me to think that. I have had minor issues with that in the past but not quite as much.

Also it could be that I am not used to spending most of my time in a city type area(moved recently)...but I can't help getting anxious if I see a cop car or a police officer not in a car. I mean obviously I am not used to seeing 5 cop cars whle going for a 10 minute walk and I have had a couple bad experiances so maybe I'm just not used to that being the norm.....but it is potentially aggrevating because I don't want to freak out because I am anxious and thus become a suspicious target. I mean chances are I am not even the focus of their attention so I don't know what I am so worried about.

But yeah does this sort of thing happen to anyone else with AS or any other conditions? It just seems odd for me I guess... I am not really that terribly worried or disturbed about any of it at this point but all of those have proved to be annoying in the past couple weeks. None of these are things I have never experianced in the past it just seems more frequent I guess.

I think this is because there are unkouns whic h you have no wayu of figuring out so your brain starts making posible sugestions foususing on the negitive.. I do not know why the brain focuses on the negitive though I supect that AS plays a part..

I hope this helps.

This is obviously not a whole lot to go by, but the initial impression I got from your description was schizotypal. I see from your profile that you suspect AS, but are not officially diagnosed. Is it possible that maybe you have schizotypal instead :?: (question mark button not currently working!) I ask this because there are many symptoms that are found both in Aspergers and Schizotypal. According to the DSM, you cannot be diagnosed with both. They are similar, and then there is a point where they break off their similarities. Schizotypal includes things like delusions, paranoia, halluncinations, and the like. I don`t know if you have delusions or hallucinations, but you definitely seem to have some sort of paranoia. Maybe you should take the Schizotypal screening test and see where you score. (You can find it easily if you google it--the proper screening should consist of 75 questions). If you are certain you have Aspergers...then I don`t have any suggestions...sorry...

Also, I should say the only reason I am bringing up schizotypal is because you have not already been diagnosed with aspergers (according to your profile). The reason I bring it up is because often times the two disorders can be mistaken for one another before official diagnosis has been given (and even some official diagnoses turn out to be wrong).

Well before I had it kind of confirmed by my counseler and a couple other people that it was likely I had aspergers I was suspecting that. But then again a lot of aspergers symptoms really do fit me as well. I have not had any very noticable hallucinations or anything(other then while on mind alterting substances) but I do seem to have some naturally occuring distortions of things that take place even if I am completely sober. So yeah I guess I have not totally ruled that out.......it just seems the aspergers symptoms are more obvious but I cant say for sure considring I have not been officially diagnosed with anything other then depression and anxiety.

What you've described happens to me when I go somewhere crowded alone. Especially if I start thinking about running into someone I've gone to school or worked with. However I'm self diagnosed too so I suppose there is the schizoid possibility with me as well (my aunt is a speech pathologist and confirms Asperger's though).

The Complete Guide to Asperger's Syndrome says something about paranoia in aspies due to theory of mind issues and negative expectations of people because of past experience. I think it was referencing this:

Yeah maybe, the trouble is I don't have any past experiances with my brother or cousin for that paranoia to have resulted from. To be honest it kinda brings me down I mean I mean I can be having a perfectly decent day and then such things invade my mind....and then I feel just as bad as I would feel if someone close like my cousin, brother or sister actually was talking crap about me behind my back or whatever else. That is the obnoxious part because I can usually convince myself that it is ridiculous but once I have an emotional reaction it makes it more difficult to just forget about it and move on. But yeah I might take a look at that, maybe there is paranoia common among people with AS.

another thing I have thought about though why someone could not potentially be diagnosed with AS and schizotypal or other personality disorders.......I mean I guess I just don't see why one has to totally cancel out the other. I mean based on what I have looked up I seem to have sympoms of both of those but maybe I guess if I really want to know I will have to try and talk to a psychiatirst or whatever.

do you smoke a lot of weed?
weed or any other psychoactive drug that speeds you up tends to cause anxiety which can manifest as paranoia (at least that's how my body reacts.

are you depressed?
depression makes me think people are talking about me, weird paranoid thoughts

I tend to smoke at least once a day, but it certainly does not speed me up.....cannabis is actually more relaxing then energizing. But there are people who get tired rather then energized from caffine so some people react weird to things. But yeah the reason I smoke so frequently is because it helps keep my depression and anxiety under control. And it makes the other things I mentioned a bit easier to deal with.
