You have a chance, but there may be other problems you should talk about. There needs to be a significant reason that it limits your ability to work. I don't qualify because either I was misdiagnosed or am just freakin fantastic. Sorry, I think I was misdiagnosed but it's all a matter of relativity.

You should be able to get disability benefits for schizophrenia or psychosis without to much hassle since they're both widely regarded as very severe.

You should be able to get it. Schizophrenia falls under the list of qualifying disabilities. You'll need a date when your doctor said you couldn't work. And you'll have to schedule an appointment with your local social security office. They have an online application, but it's only for ages 61 and older. You can, however, fill out a disability report and send it in to help the process.

I have schizophrenia and am applying for SSI, too. You shouldn't have too much trouble getting it.

Here are the eligibility requirements: http://www.socialsecurity.gov/ssi/text- ... y-ussi.htm

Might I ask why you need to apply?

You can depending on how much it's affecting you. You probably won't qualify if it's being managed OK with medication that isn't causing you sever side-effects & you don't have any other conditions.
