Anybody have any experiences with generic ADD medications? I can only afford generics but I want to try something in addition to/instead of my antidepressant.

the generic Adderall XR would seem to be a good choice to try first. you likely will have to titrate from a token dose up to therapeutic level.

You would most assuredly need a prescription if you did not want to be arrested for illegal possession of a controlled substance. Generally, the stimulant meds are on schedule II, along with cocaine, the barbiturates, and morphine.

^Yeah, I am going to talk to my doctor first, of course. Pills not gotten from a reputable source could be anything. I'm even leery of generics I have a prescription for. My pharmacy sometimes gets them from different manufacturers and I do notice a difference.

The most common generic of adderall is made by Teva (Barr), which is the same company that makes the name-brand version. I think the only potential issue is a slight variance in potency, which can be said for all generic medications. I have never heard of any problems with it, although I believe Sandoz has slightly higher quality control to meet EU standards (this is only hearsay though).

Edit: Did you mean to replace another ADHD med like Strattera, which is technically an antidepressant? Adderall is not typically considered a safe treatment for actual depression, and for good reason.

I just wondered what was out there generically because I probably need something and I'm VERY poor. I'm going to talk to my doctor. I don't want to replace my antidepressant.

if you are in America, I do hope you sign onto a health care exchange, you can get up to a 100% discount depending on the plan you choose.
