I have been through some difficult situation, could not forget it. I have always been anxious but on top of that ptsd is ruining my life. Always ruminating about past and it's very hard to focus on the present. I dont want to take meds because it's not helping me in the long run, just temporary relaxation. I just cant get thoughts off my mind, whatever I do. I am afraid if that bad memory sticks in my mind forever.

I can relate - I'm dealing with much the same situation as you are. My PTSD is pretty bad, actually, and you're right meds don't do much for this.

I hope you feel better soon.

Best not to start the meds if possible.. do your research..! there are substances that are available at pharmacuetical quality out there that have dual uses , "that can help clean up your neural synapses" . That will tend to lift depression.
And there are used in tiny pinches maybe 3 times a aweek . Clean up your diet, go for healthy foods/ supplements . This productive and pro active practices can put you on a new mental path, and give you a clearer insight of the things you maybe facing . Doing something pro actively can change your focus. You might even practive some relaxation meditation exercises at. night when you go to bed . Daytime, try to stay away from vids of all types .Do yardwork.
If necessary for allergies ,take over the counter allergy meds , but maybe research them alittle before using .something physical to engage in, that will almost always automatically engage your brain .These are just the starter
things that I used to get through some tough times, when PTSD wanted to control my thoughts. Best of wishes hope you may find some use in what I posted here . IMHO
( very long, very very serious PTSD sufferer)
It maybe soon ,for you , if you can keep in mind concepts of allowing forgiveness,at least in your own mind, Please do not let people things or places that created issues " Live Rent Free in Your Mind"

Writing it down and then destroying or deleting it can help relieve some of the burden.
