What is the weirdest, most bizarre style of music to you?

Pseudo-intellectual indie hipster soft-rock.

What Reggae artists do is also very interesting. Their are cd's full of the same riddim with a different group. Riddim meaning the music or rhythm. So the riddim to no woman no cry could be used with a song that has totally different lyrics.

Zeuhl is pretty darn wierd. And its not japanese(though this band is) but french. Made up by a french band named Magma. Sung in a "alien language" called Kobaïan. It sounds like... Well THIS quote from a reviewer from Pitchfork media.

"[Z]euhl sounds like, well, about what you'd expect an alien rock opera to sound like: massed, chanted choral motifs, martial, repetitive percussion, sudden bursts of explosive improv and just as unexpected lapses into eerie, minimalist trance-rock"

The wierdest that Ive encountered is Tuyvan 'throat singing".

Tanu Tuyva is a small sparsely populated country between Outer Mongolia and Siberia (the asian part of the russian republic) inhabited by Mongolian looking herdsman with a strong local folk music tradition of "throat singing".

Western musicians (including a former Grateful Dead) discovered this music in the nineties and are all awestruck by the ability of tuvans to get three or more notes at the same time by this technique of kinda yodeling directly from your throat.

But to the non-musician-but-music-lover they just sound like people "with frogs in their throats" as a friend described my tape once. So insufferable to listen to that it crosses the line into being laughable.

They accompany this droning/yodeling type singing with traditonal stringed instruments. And if you mentaly subtract the throat singing from the music what you're left with is something that sounds oddly like Elizabethan English madrigals.

A curiosity. But definetly an aquired taste.

Dubstep and techno. I just... don't understand the appeal. It's way too repetitive for me.

Einsurzende Neubauten is kind of unusual.

They sold their drums for money when the band was broke in their early days. Than switched to any noise maker they could bang on for percussion ranging from PVC pipes to rubber tires and a variety of scrap metal. Kind of experimental industrial.

I just realized I have very limited knowledge when it comes to music genre.

I think what I really was referring to was Black metal. The shrieking voices make my ears bleed. Just my opinion anyway. I understand that other people out there love this kind of music, but it's not for me.

commercial pop like lady gaga nicki minaj type stuff, I don't think drone or industrial is weird, it sounds more natural, there may be some harsh sounds, but nothing as harsh sounding as the horrible vocoder shrieking stuff on the radio, to my ears at least

The piece I put here is very interesting! It's a religious experience to hear that music. But you have to admit that it's stranger than lady gaga. Lady gaga is just a very mainstream.

Oh I forgot to mention before...hip hop ballet. Yes, it's real, and yes, I have a clip.

The album IBM 1401 A User's Manual

I the the writer's dad worked by a military base and notice different programming scheme caused the computer to make different tones in radio interference. So he purposely made programming that would cause select computer radio noise and made a kind of music.

Years later his son Johann Johannsson still had this recording and combined it with an album. The music isn't super weird but it has and unusual origin.

Yeah. I mean, some of the things I like might fall under it, but I do dislike 'ironic' music and trends.
