There must be some significant confounding factors here. Socioeconomic background must play a role in one's taste in music via the music one is exposed to at least. I'd bet my next paycheck that people who listen to classical are more likely to come from middle and upper class backgrounds and have greater education and better educated parents, all of which could contribute to better IQ scores.

I'm sure that there is some correlation between class and education and our taste in music. I grew up in a single parent household, have only a completed high school education. My father has a high school education and my mother didn't even finish high school. We never had much money, in fact most times we could just afford to put food on the table. I love classical music. But then I've always been the odd one out.

In general I prefer classical music, rock music and some indie or jazz music. It usually depends on the sub genre.

Great article though. Thanks for posting.

I love both pop and indie so that makes me an extrovert, hard working and traditional, yet introverted, lazy and creative :S.

Yeah, Indie and Chart Pop are pretty much opposites. :? Of course, that's only in ideology and in the personallity trend, the actual music doesn't sound hugely different between pop and indie. I'd like to note that in another list I've seen Punk and Indie grouped together.

Of course your musical tastes don't define your personallity, most people like multiple forms of music and just because the trend is one thing doesn't mean you have to follow the trend.
