Do you ever listen to new songs you like over and over?

Yep. New songs I downloaded in January have 300 plays on my ipod at least by now.

Yep, I do that too!! :jester: For me, it applies to any music I like. I become obsessed with songs and play them repeatedly... until I have to replace the cd player (from constant overplay) and buy new discs (to replace the ones I've 'warped')! !

Since we're on the subject of repetitive music, has this happened to anyone: a song will get 'stuck on repeat' in your mind and it 'won't go away' until you actually listen it? 8O

Usually one of two things happen:

1. Automatic love followed by it being played continuously (Vampire Weekend's "A-Punk", LCD Soundsystem's "All My Friends")
2. I slowly grow fond of a song after being unimpressed by it upon first (or maybe second) listen, then I begin to love the song (Hot Chip's "Ready for the Floor", iForward, Russia!'s "Nine")

When I find a new song that I like I have to listen to it over and over again for several days/weeks until I slowly get tired of it. Then I forget about it completely. Some months later, if I listen to it again, the process is repeated but it usually lasts shorter than the first time.

This happens to me too. If I listened to it on the radio, then I have to find it somewhere so my mind can rest again.

Yep. A new song always gets into my head through one of this two ways.

New songs that grab my attention instantly get the repetition process - usually anywhere between 10-50 times on repeat and I don't get sick of them. I then play something else and incorporate that new song into the 'general list'. It is like these special new songs have to go through an initiation or something, for me. I can sometimes be in a buzz about the new song for some hours afterwards.

I also get the weirdest songs on repeat in my head. Songs I haven't heard since I was a kid. I think my internal echolalia gets confused sometimes.

I do that constantly... both with new songs that I like... and with old songs that I like that I haven't heard in awhile.

I'll suddenly have the desire to hear a certain song that I haven't in awhile... and I'll play it over, and over, and over again until the obsession has passed...
