'under the table and dreaming' is a great call.

I sometimes forget that it came out that long ago

Its actually quite refreshing to see a best of something thread or list without Oasis. Even though, Definatly Maybe probably deserves to be mentioned. And I don't know the Stone Roses album well enough to comment on it. Didn't the next album flop?

I'm used to people bashing Oasis; in the US it's much more fashionable to bash them than to like them.

The Stone Roses only put out two albums. This was the second one. The first one is better but this one is quite good.

I'm not terribly into most Britpop. One exception is Suede, but not quite enough for them to make the upper echelons of a top 400 list of the 90s.

i didn't quite dig Definitely Maybe as much as I did What's The Story Morning Glory. Couldn't really give you a rational reason as to why, though.

Cool, you're from NJ too! Yeah, I agree; it seems to be an American thing--to like WTSMG better than DM.

What, then they split?

No way. They're a one album wonder. WTSMG had a couple of good songs on. And they've had some alright hits since.

...Yet they are still filling stadiums and arenas all over the world.

Cause they have that same fan base from the 90's of those people that still hang on to them being the new super band, which they're not. And the sheep followers of music nowdays, who just follow what radio 1 plays.

They get very, very little radio play in the US, especially the New York market, yet they filled MSG, and many, many fans were too young to have been familiar with them in the '90s. (I was 7 when WTSMG came out; the kid I went with was 5.)

Oasis still speaks to people, even if it's mainly their older music that's doing the talking (to younger fans).

Though, in general, I definitely agree with your sentiment.

Over here they are seen to have flopped in the US. Sentiment?

They're kind of underground in the US. The press hates them but they still have fans and gain fans.

Yeah, I agree that people just follow what they put on Top 40 radio regardless of what it is or how it sounds.

Oh right yeah, its easier to like a band if they are underrated where you are. But here, so many people are like "Oasis, best band ever".:? Which is far from true. Plus, they never change, and Liam is a prick. But their first album was enjoyable. I prefer Noel's songs.
