for the longest time I thought Beth Gibbons(the singer of Portishead) was saying "Wooden heart" in this song.. but i'm still not sure if it's "wooden heart" or "word and heart"
I'll never forget this video.. it wasn't my first time listening to trip hop..(i liked some of massive attack a lot back when napster was still a thing, i downloaded a lot of their music back then, but I didn't know what it was, I just liked the music) but when I saw this...I thought to myself..."This is my type of music" "this is what I want to listen to" "this is my favorite genre" already.. Turns out Portishead and Massive Attack Popularized the trip hop genre in the UK during the 90s...didn't even know much about it here in the states.. I guess we have some similar sounding stuff...but there is nothing quite like portishead.
I've always liked that song, though I don't listen to Portishead much.
So many sub genres nowadays I can't keep up with them all. I might have more trip hop bands in my music collection, not sure. This is the only one I can think of off the top of my head.

I don't find a lot of trip hop bands for the US.. like.. i can't really think of any with full albums i really like.. well, trifonic.. but i don't really listen to them a lot.. meh.. lol.. listen to a trip hop band from russia.. but not US.. T.T.. most of my favorites come from france and a few popular ones of course from uk..
meh, anyways.. back to what i'm listening to.. plaid is my favorite band ever.. it can be hard to put a genre on them sometimes, but they are under the warp label, which generally does IDM music.
Just cold and black and emptiness above the clouds A trillion miles of darkness wove into a shroud that covers all the bases and ties up the loose ends, ignoring every question. The paper trail is burning to keep the planet turning, and all of us from learning
Beyond your vision, beyond religion, beyond perception and all of the man made restrictions There is an answer that we can not hear, it is not spoken by a kind and loving deity
It's out of our reach, we take for granted the explanations that we have been handed
It's so convenient but what will happen when we traverse the greatest barrier: Time and Distance
Time is running out Time is running out Open your mind, Listen to these words
