^ The release of The Slider marked the point at which I became disillusioned with T Rex, and it took another 14 years before my interest was rekindled. Rabbit Fighter was probably my favourite track on this album.

I thought it was a bit lazy and formulaic. And three or four of the tracks had already been released as singles ('A' or 'B' sides). In mid '72 Bolan was at a point in his career when he had the world (or at least the UK) at his feet after his breakthrough in '71 and the phenomenal Wembley Concert of March '72,but this album quickly slid down the charts after the first few weeks (contrast with Electric Warrior, which was a top 10 album for almost a year).

You only have to listen to an interview with Bolan from 1972 (or even late '71) and contrast it to one from early '71 to see the evidence of hubris wrought by cocaine and brandy and his failure to deal with his success.
