I often listen to this sort of stuff when I'm working. Helps me concentrate. I can't work to anything with lyrics, it distracts me. This has rain in the background. It's a good one.

Late 1975, if I recall correctly. For about four decades I was under the illusion that the group was Greek, for obvious reasons if you'd seen the video. I still can't help thinking that Lida Bond looks a bit uncomfortable with 'George Baker' here. What a great rendition though, especially Lida's solo section. The notorious Jonathan King also had a version of this song in the UK charts at around the same time.

Well here's the other version I referred to, for comparison purposes, and I think it's indisputably much weaker. Subsequent developments revealed both Jonathan King and Jimmy Savile (who introduces this clip) to be alleged sexual perverts, but I don't really want to comment on any of that.

Quite enjoyable both musically and for visual comedy value. The brunette lady was the wife of Pete Waterman, a producer and promoter who was very prominent in the UK music scene in the early-to-mid 1990s as a member of the Stock Aitken Waterman record production company.

I think this song was originally a hit in the early 1960s, can't remember by whom though.

Not sure what genre this is. Is pop country even a genre?
