Joy Division- Isolation
The Smiths- How Soon Is Now?
Radiohead- Creep, Fake Plastic Trees
Porcupine Tree- Don't Hate Me, Stranger By The Minute
Dream Theater- Constant Motion, Solitary Shell

As you can see, I tend to go for the more downbeat stuff!

I can relate to the song "use somebody" by Kings of Leon. Another one "Don't let me get me" by P!nk

OK...granted, this song is ultimately about a man getting cheated on, but the lyrics just struck me in a way that I thought might be relatable.

Actually, I get a feeling sometimes that Mark Hollis (the lyricist and lead singer of the band) might be an Aspie. It's not so evident in earlier works, like this, but there's an unbelievable, amazing perfectionism in the later works of Talk Talk, and his solo album. I've read comments in interviews about his playing one note for a long, LONG time to listen to the subtle variations, just fixating on it--and I can relate. People can't seem to understand why he withdrew from the public view later on in his life--well, I think it's quite understandable, myself.

But this song is from the early 80s when the band was...well, very early 80s. ;)

Helloween~ I Want Out
This is a song about control but I think some people with AS(including me) can relate to the feelings of wanting to be alone instead of being around people who believe that we should not have our own minds

Rush~ Subdivisions
A song about how people can get judgmental when they only hang around people like them. I think some of us can relate to it because some of us are outcast because we are different than others

"Push"-Matchbox 20

She said I don't know if I've ever been good enough
I'm a little bit rusty, and I think my head is caving in
And I don't know if I've ever been really loved
By a hand that's touched me, well I feel like something's
Gonna give
And I'm a little bit angry, well

This ain't over, no not here, not while I still need you
Around
You don't owe me, we might change
Yeah we just might feel good

I wanna push you around, well I will, I will
I wanna push you down, well I will, I will
I wanna take you for granted, I wanna take you for granted
Well I will

She said I don't know why you ever would lie to me
Like I'm a little untrusting when I think that the truth is
Gonna hurt ya
And I don't know why you couldn't just stay with me
You couldn't stand to be near me
When my face don't seem to want to shine
Cuz it's a little bit dirty well

Don't just stand there, say nice things to me
I've been cheated I've been wronged, and you
You don't know me, I can't change
I won't do anything at all
Oh but don't bowl me over
Just wait a minute well it kinda fell apart, things get so
Crazy, crazy
Don't rush this baby, don't rush this baby

I'm unemployed and was without a special interest. Pink Floyd's Time really knows how that feels.

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine
Staying home to watch the rain
And you are young and life is long
And there is time to kill today
And then one day you find
Ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run
You missed the starting gun

And you run, and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Every year is getting shorter
Never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to nought
Or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desparation is the English way
The time is gone
The song is over
Thought I'd something more to say

Home, home again
I like to be here when I can
When I come home cold and tired
It's good to warm my bones beside the fire
Far away across the field
The tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spells

"Real World" by Matchbox 20

I wonder what it's like to be the rainmaker
I wonder what it's like to know that I made the rain
I'd store it in boxes with little yellow tags on every one
And you can come see them when I'm...done, when I'm
Done

I wonder what it's like to be a super hero
I wonder where I'd go if I could fly around downtown
From some other planet, I get this funky high
on yellow sun
Boy I bet my friends will all be...stunned, they're stunned

Straight up, what did you hope to learn about here
If I were someone else, would this all fall apart
Strange, where were you, when we started this gig,
I wish the real world, would just stop hassling me

I wonder what it's like to be the head honcho
I wonder what I'd do if they all did just what I said
I'd shout out an order,
I think we're out of this
man get me some
Boy don't make me wanna change my...tone, my tone

Straight up, what did you hope to learn about here
If I were someone else, would this all fall apart
Strange, where were you, when we started this gig,
I wish the real world, would just stop hassling me

Please don't change, please don't break
The only thing that seems to work at all is you
Please don't change, at all for me
To you, and you to me

Straight up, what did you hope to learn about here
If I were someone else, would this all fall apart
Strange, where were you, when we started this gig,
I wish the real world, would just stop hassling me...

"Telephone" by Lady Gaga. It's got a lot of symbolism in it though and not all AS people could probably get it. The refrences to a party and dancing could be symbolism for special intrests, etc.

You know me, I used to get caught up in everyday life
Tried to make it through my day so I could sleep at night
Tried to figure out my way through the maze
Of rights and wrongs, but like you used to say
Nothing feels like it's really worth it

Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" reminds me of how I felt as a child. Espicaly when I was in the mental ward and how several doctors in paticular seemed to try and brain wash me into believing I was a freak and that I needed them to "fix" me. It's a very personal song to me.
