I listen to a lot of rock music, but out of all the rock I've listened to no rock song is as epic IMO as a certain song from the game Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (and I don't even play video games much anymore). Anyways, the song is known as "The Road Most Travelled" on the soundtrack but that name is never actually apparent in the game (if I remember right). You'll know what I'm talking about, however, if you search for it on YouTube.

What song(s) do you consider "epic"?

I would definitely consider "Through the Fire and the Flames" by Dragonforce to be epic.

Only one contender, Ricardo Villalobos' Apocalypso Now Remix of Shackleton's Blood on my Hands.
17 minutes long so in two parts;

I would consider a lot of rock songs epic, as you can tell by my list I am a bit older.

Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
Sympathy for the Devil - Rolling Stones
The End - Doors
Schools Out - Alice Cooper
An American Trilogy - Elvis
Highway to Hell - AC/DC
Bat out of Hell - Meatloaf
Fade to Black - Metallica
Iron Man - Black Sabbath
Sweet Child of Mine - Guns & Roses
Seven Nation Army - White Stripes
Come on Feel The Noise - Quiet Riot
...and many more...

Anaesthetize/Dark Matter/Russia on Ice/What Happens Now? - Porcupine Tree

In the Court of the Crimson King/Epitaph - King Crimson

Knights of Cydonia/Butterflies and Hurricanes/New Born/Space Dementia - Muse

The Haunt of Roulette Dares/Eriatarka - The Mars Volta

The Great Gig in the Sky/Echoes/Dogs - Pink Floyd

Paranoid Android/2+2=5 - Radiohead

Schism/Lateralus - Tool

...to name a few :P Not all are what you'd call rock songs, but they're all epic in their own way. They all sound enormous and powerful.

Is this it? That's all I could find, besides the battle song. I was dissapointed that I couldn't nearly finish that game before my old Xbox died on me.

Hehe, easy. The climax (double entendre thoroughly intended) of the first side of Mike Oldfield's Ommadawn.

I'd also go for The Last Firstborn, by Celldweller, Dire Straits' Tunnel of Love, and Walk on Gilded Splinters by Dr. John.

If we are looking at Video Game music... I think Final Fantasy X is the winner for the best score. Some amazing work.

There are too many. But here's one off the top of my head.. Rainbow - Gates of Babylon. Ronnie James Dio has like the most amazing voice ever.

Another vote for Rainbow and Ronnie James Dio although I think Stargazer is more epic than Gates of Babylon.

Of course no discussion of Epic songs would be complete without mention of Stairway to Heaven

I've been a fan of these guys for a few months now, since turning up this song looking for clips from an old anime. The video for this is from a later installment that I haven't seen, but it's a good recording of the song.

I had no idea a band like this existed in Japan. All I ever heard from there before was glam pop. Most of the songs I've heard of theirs are epic.

Also, The Beatles of course had their share, including one of my favorites:

And surprisingly, Kevin Max... I understand he's supposed to be a Christian rock musician, which is fine, I'm a Christian, but that said, I haven't found a heck of a lot of references on the one disc I downloaded. I came across his music looking for jazzed up Christmas songs (his Hark, the Herald Angels Sing is very Beatlesque). This song is nice and intense. Dunno what it's about, though.
