Green Day is emo, Papa Roach is emo, and some others I can't recall.
Anything that is melodic is emo. It's just a bit of poppier rock. Yeah, maybe some bands are getting into the trend and dressing like this, but the music is simply what it is. Hell, Fall Out Boy isn't even emo, I've experimented and given a few listens, they're pop rock.
Now artist like Joblows and Cyrus and Simpson and Spears are just pure pop, and it's not emo. It's something about melodic rock. If these other bands such as the ones earlier in this post are emo, then The Beatles are definitely emo. I see very little difference between their songs and other bands of today, when I read between the lines. They're just too old and didn't end up in our generation. They're pop rock.
I was pretty pissed when I heard the song "Death To All But Metal" by the band Steel Panther, they list several different artists that are all purely pop, but they listed Papa Roach in the same group---besides their trendy dress style, their music is nothing like the rest of that sh**. Turns out Steel Panther are a bunch of fagz who copy the hair metal 80's scene and think they're badass because they arrive on the stage by way of hang-gliders and half of their live set consisting of an instrumental break playing riffs playing 5 of the cliche-traditional "classics:" Sabbath's "Iron Man," Guns' "Sweet Child of Mine," Van Halen's "Eruption," AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" and Purple's "Smoke On the Water" (I was there in person to see all of this, how their cliche-ridden filth got into that metal festival is unknown to me). Even the singer held up a pink mirror to look at himself in order to boast about about his hair. Is this cockiness really that necessary?!
I have no idea who half of those people are but I think that is a good thing. Calm down and please don't call them "fagz" just because they disagree with you. It shows ignorance. If anything start lobbying on the internet against them...perhaps make some t-shirts that poke fun at and if they have a website DDoS the hell out of it.
