Ethics: clipart bio pic?

I've written an e-book. The publisher wants a pic of me for the Message from the Author page. I want to use a photo from MSN clipart. He says he's not sure of the ethics of doing that. This guy is experienced and respected in his field.

There are no pictures of me. I'm isolated and don't know anybody who would take my picture. I don't go out, ever, for anything, except maybe once a month for a doctor or some horrible necessity.

Please, tell me what you think? Is it unethical? You can see below my signature a link to my PTSD website. There's a pic there, and it looks so much like me that it fooled my sister, so I felt okay about using it. The problem is my age - I'm not that young any more and for the new book we want a pic of someone (me!) older.

Also - when Mom died my hair fell out. I'm a 59yo mostly bald woman. I weigh twice what I should. I don't own any makeup.

And ... I just realized. That child pornographer that got hold me of me in 1955 got his bright idea from seeing my picture in the newspaper sitting with Santa Claus. Yes. I am very much afraid.

What should I do?

Can you go *without* a picture all together?

If you very much need a photo, then consider how you could pose for one.

It might be a good idea to plan with care and choose your clothing with care to hide any feature you dislike showing to the world. If you have a camera with a time delay then you could always try to photograph yourself.

One tip I would give is this, set up a digital camera on a tripod and set up by taking a few photos of an object such a hatstand. Then mark the floor under the hatstand. Remove the hatstand, now when you start the timer you know exactly where to put your feet. Or go for a photo of you sittng in a chair, the chair fill fix your location in one spot.

Diagnosed under the DSM5 rules with autism spectrum disorder, under DSM4 psychologist said would have been AS (299.80) but I suspect that I am somewhere between 299.80 and 299.00 (Autism) under DSM4.
