As title. I'm thinking along the Hatikvah line.

Thanks.

sorry but i've never heard any music along the lines of what the hatikva was about. the closest i've heard was some downtempo klezmer.
anyways, i thought the most depressing melody i've heard, was the funeral march for queen mary, which was adapted by wendy carlos into the theme for "a clockwork orange."

It's despair in such a simple motif. Quarter Eighth Eighth Quarter Quarter. 1 2 + 3 4.

The album 'Sleep Well' by Electric President is fairly depressing. I think the whole album is in minor keys. I love this song.

I do not know what hakivahah is, but here is an instrumental that is quite disturbingly sad. For me, that is.

I found this piece grossly disturbing because of how sad it is; When i heard the drum slamming aproximately two minutes in, i actually shedded tears. The long intervals of it perfectly resembles a dying persons final heartbeats, and hte over song is beautiful.

But you will probarly be more disturbed when you research about the source of it.

Radiohead Exit Music ( for a film ) [a minor], and How To Disappeer Completely [E] are quite depressing/dark.

These guys managed to be so very sad and very tense/brooding at the same time. I find the way the track builds with waves upon waves of sheer noise so cathartic. I like wierd music though so this might not be your taste. It's more about noise and blunt emotion than intricate melodies.

Eric Satie is good when you're in the mood for a more subdued melancholy feel.

Sorry, just realised you said instrumentals....

Check out Mono. Amazing instrumentals (they have no singer) and some of it is very epic dark and depressing

You mean the Israeli national anthem? If that's the case you may like this track it's got an old-worldy, klezmer thing to it.

Well, it's instrumental and depressing. Not sure if it's quite what you seek.
