I usually have a 50-100 listen lifespan, with few exceptions past the 100 listen mark. I can obsess over a band/CD for a period of time though, but the rule will still apply.

CDs I've outplayed: One-X by Three Days Grace, Hybrid Theory (album) by Linkin Park, Follow the Leader by Korn, Dropbox by Dropbox and The Impossibility of Reason by Chimaira.

Some only listen to a song once. 8O

Depends on how much I like it. Some will last months, others only a few minutes. There's a particular song that I've listened to almost every day for the past month, sometimes even several times a day! I get a bit obsessive about my music though lol, so probably not the norm.

I've been listening to KISS, Peter Gabriel, Steely Dan, Chicago, The Beatles, and Led Zeppelin for 30/35 years. I guess there is no lifespan because I'll be listening to those for the rest of my days.

50 - 100 sounds about the same for me, on average. Though occasionally I go way over that - I remember that I listened to "She'd Rather Be With the DJ" by Hardnox for about 300 times, and I still don't think I'm tired of it.

For me, they last forever.

Implements of Destruction by Chimaira lasted about 150 listens; that's a 13 minute song too.

They last as long as they do, they recharge after not being listened to in a while. At first they get better with each listen until they reach the peak, which is usually around the second or third time, then it gets worse each time, but they can be restored by just not listening to it for a while, not to the point of the peak, but higher up.

Same way how much I want to listen to it regenerates after not having done it for a while.

Odd; my memory of songs I've heard to enough is near perfect, so I just lose interest and use the cool parts in my own music generally.

I used to listen to albums far more than I do nowadays. Part of the reason for that is that my music tastes have broadened as I've gotten older and now there is more music to give my attention to.

The other reason is that the way I consume my music has changed over the last coupe of years. Whereas before I might have purchased anywhere from one to three albums a month, nowadays I get all my music from Spotify. As I have access to just about all the music out there now, and no longer have to buy any music, I'm far more likely to listen to individual tracks, nor necessarily singles either, as opposed to my earlier listening habits of mostly listening to albums or compilations.

Going by my last.fm scrobbles, it seems that currently at most I'll listen to an album I really love about 15-30 times on average over a one year period.

Well my memory is quite that good, but yeah, the songs never go back to their peak of awesomeness, but after listening to a song on a binge it gets a lot better after a great deal of time has passed.

My Last.fm indicates about 10-20 times per year. Then again, I'm currently filling out sections from bands I have nothing from.

Forever.

If I love a song, I love it forever. I still look up long-forgotten '80s pop songs on YouTube and recognized "Pop Goes the World" instantaneously when it was used in a Tide commercial. That wasn't even one I liked-- it was just in a grade school program. I get misty-eyed listening to "Walk Like An Egyptian" and still know all the words to "We Didn't Start the Fire."

Sometimes I dig out old Belinda Carlyle cassettes.

If I hate a song, I hate it forever. Nothing, no experience, no amount of exposure, could make me not hate "Could've Been."

If you recognize those songs, or artists, or know the lyrics-- congratulations, you're old.

I get just as much of a chill listening to Dylan sing "The Times They Are A-Changin" as I did when I was 15. I have been known to play the same song over and over and over and made repeating cassette tapes before CD players were available to the common man.

<--- Knows about 30% of "We Didn't Start the Fire" and was thoroughly surprised to see it performed live by Billy Joel at the Garden about 7 years ago.
