Any Joy Division fans here? Come on, I know there must be.

Favorite songs?

Understandable. They're certainly not always the first thing that comes to mind to put on when one is in a good mood. Haha. Unless one is a masochist, perhaps.

I absolutely adore Joy Division. One of my all time favorite bands since I was 17. "Transmission", "Novelty", "The Eternal", "Ice Age", "Twenty Four Hours", "Love Will Tear Us Apart", "Disorder", "Isolation"... ah, screw it, I love all their songs, haha.

I love them, and I swear down, their music sounds better when played within the boundaries of Greater Manchester. I don't find them depressing at all either, their music actually puts me in a good mood. I like Passover, New Dawn Fades, Disorder, Candidate, Shadowplay, Transmission - mainly stuff from Unknown Pleasures.

Disorder is my favorite. Weird story. My boyfriend and I met on OkCupid and the only reason why I ever clicked on his profile, is because his username had something to do with Joy Division. Turns out his mom sorta named him after Ian, with my bf's first name containing Ian at the end of it, and his middle name being Curtis (she merged two names as his first name, resulting in another name that's semi-popular). Boring I know, but it brought us together. Btw, thanks Mom for getting him into good music.

Likewise. I am also fond of The Wombats' song Let's Dance to Joy Division. "Let's dance to Joy Division, and celebrate the irony. Everything is going wrong, but we're so happy." :)

I adore Joy Division!! I used to be obsessed with Ian Curtis :D However, after I read Touching From a Distance, my obsession went down slightly as Ian was a bit of an ass.

This is my favourite song but I love them all really:

I really want the Heart and Soul boxset and the complete BBC recordings.

Deborah Curtis' view of him is bound to be a less than pleasant one. He was cheating on her afterall. People got married and had kids way too young in those days. He lived his whole eventful life in just 23 years. Imagine trying to care for a young child and wife at that age when you have severe physical and mental health issues!

Yes, I like them a lot. Transmission, Warsaw and Dead Souls are some of my favourites, although I like everything they did.

I do know that. I've watched/read everything there was about Ian, except for 24 Hour Party People and while I agree that Deborah's opinion is very biased, there is probably an element of truth to a lot of the things she wrote about.

Personally I don't think they should have married at all, they weren't very well matched.

Has everyone seen "Joy Division" the documentary by Grant Gee? I think it's superior to Control and 24 hr party people even though those are good movies with their own charms.

They shouldn't have had the actor sing in Control :P

Sean Harris who briefly plays Ian in 24 Hr party people is a brilliant actor. Maybe he should have got the part in Control too. He also did a good Ian Brady.
