legalities of publishing a parody
i have to be extra careful here: altho im based in the UK, my Server & ISP are based in USA... so i kinda have to know about the law both sides of the pond...
ive started writing parodies of (for example) batman, mary poppins, macbeth, etc
i have published well under 10% of the actual thing that i'm lampooning, for example, i write act 1 scene 1 of "macbeth: a paordy of, obviously" - or whatever its called, i write 2 pages (and use the same formula for everything: add sex/drugs/immature stuff - it basically becomes a Scary Movie type thing) - and kinda give up after that. rinse. repeat.
so what im wanting to do is compile one super big parody, which is comprised of many small parodies (ie 2 pages or whatever i came up with before i gave up).
i know that the simpsons, family guy et al have done so, but they will have received permission from the rights holders.
however, i am only wanting to parody maybe 5% tops of a story, so am i covered under fair use or making available for critique / review etc?
