i bought a cheap keyboard and got a song book from my sister with chords but eighter i don't know how the songs go
or they sound weird when i try to play them. I would realy like to be able to write songs im not really trying to learn just how to play. Do you guys know any sites where you can get chords or something. I don't like chords cause they usually dont play the songs that way in the originals, they are much more complicated, but i know i have to start somewhere. got any tips on how i should learn? so far it's boring and seem way to hard and im afraid i will lose interest.

Find a cd you really like with a lot of piano bits on it and then find songbooks for that album and play along. I'm a guitarist and thats basically how I got started. I skipped the whole "Michael Row The Boat Ashore" junk and jumped into Metallica's "For Whom The Bell Tolls". Maybe start by finding the sheet music for Coldplays "Clocks"? That should be an easy enough song to learn and you'll feel much satisfaction from learning it and once you learn one song it gives you the confidence and eagerness to learn more.

Or you could just go get lessons.....

Don't get frustrated. Stick with it and don't give up!

It's not the most complete wikibook but it might help http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Piano
