I am. I'll have to check out those artists you mention some time.
I like Infected Mushroom, Skrillex, Crystal Method, and Glitch Mob.
A LOT of my friends are die-hard fans of Daft Punk, but to be perfectly honest I find most of their stuff repetitive and boring. (Don't hate on me for that. I'm entitled to my opinion and you're entitled to yours.)

I'm not even sure I know what techno is. Every time I mention some band I like that makes electronic music and I call it techno, some pretentious music geek corrects me. "No, no. That's not techno. That's dubstep." Or whatever. There are like 50 million subgenres of electronic music and I'm not enough of a fan of it to even tell a damn difference. Anyway, I like Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Propellerheads, Sascha, Orbital, Paul van Dyk, MKL, Underworld, and oh Jesus like nine million other bands who only have like two songs I like. Whether these people are techno, I have no idea.
Im not much of a music geek either so i cant say as though your wrong or right, either way ill have to check those bands out, here is an example of what i guess i consider techno , here ill put the link first in case it wont show the vid when i insert it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNLOgHjrya4

and here is an example of techno without singing, again the link in case it doesnt work http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyBDF2hgqcc

My fav Infected Mushroom song is Stretched because it progresses thru several moods in one song. They've got that sly aggression at the beginning, then the gut-churning stuff, then a serene piano melody, etc.

but in terms of all-out impact, I think their piece Heavyweight takes the cake.

Techno can be a harder animal to nail than say house, trance, dubstep, dnb, and what else have you. The reason being - it doesn't have a definite beat structure, it can often be 4/4 thump but not necessarily always, just like its generally more often texture/kinetics driven where its largely amelodic or where melodic tones are used in a way that represents the sound of machines more than music but, if you get into Detroit techno (the origin really) they still make something that sounds like house but with more soul, perhaps a bit more kinetics, and that's Detroit techno (ie. Juan Atkins, Derrick May, Carl Craig, et al.).
Some examples of what it can be:
Lux Trax - Lummox

Glenn Wilson - Blueprints (Chris McCormack remix)

Adam Beyer- Analyser

Jeff Mills - The Bells

Actress - I Can't Forgive You

Lausen - Dry Ray

martin schulte - tunnel

Juan Atkins - The Mission

Lol, I see lots of Infected Mushroom mentions - they're somewhere I think on the psytrance/goa end of things. Some other people who are good out their way: Hallucinogen, 1200 Micrograms, Hux Flux, and MFG.

So what would an artist like say Darude be considered out of curiosity? i know that darude is a common thing that is played at a rave but i dont really like to use the word rave tehcno because a lot of people tell me that theres no real such thing as rave techno

I agree that infected Mushroom is something thats very unique, and very different from the techno i ususlly listen to, it seems like infected mushroom has somewhat of a darker tone to it, where dj splash and Dj Rabaan and even darude are a little more happier and lighthearted, but i always liked things with a darker tone to them, heres a classic darude techno to sord of show you what i mean http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ejm6jn9AFA0

I don't know any recent Darude stuff, if you're talking about older Darude like Sandstorm that's what was called hard NRG or nu-NRG (pronounced energy but - they just like to spell it weird). All it really is - a hybrid of trance and hard house. It's something that Jon The Dentist was really big on, I had a couple friends as well who were really addicted to hard NRG and half the time at raves a lot of the clubber kids turned djs were into that, Tidy Trax was their big label that they liked to buy records on.
Well, what it really is - a lot of people like to use 'techno' as a catch-all term for it, I think the reason it irks them is partly that its technically incorrect but more so because they're used to people calling it all techno being the same people who can't stand it or even diss em for listening to electronic. You do get your amateur chin-strokers here and there who love to think that electronic music is so creatively bankrupt that all the names they're hearing - ie house, trance, jungle, dubstep, are just whatever people want to start calling it that year to make it 'cool' again; it couldn't be farther from the truth and for most of the genres out there you have at least ten years of history, when you talk about your basic divisions like house, trance, techno, hardcore, and jungle/drum & bass you're talking closer to twenty or more years of history.
But I would correct whoever said that there's no such thing as 'techno' per say - obviously though you have at least a dozen subgenres which I'm sure I don't even know all the names anymore: acid techno, Detroit techno, Swedish techno, tech-house, minimal techno, IDM, hollow-pipe, tribal techno; really these are built for dj's to use, to have a description below them on a rave flyer because there are a lot of rave goers or just electronic fans in general who will perhaps like one side of a genre but not most others, so the details give them a sense of what they're in for and - ahead of time - whether they'll like the kind of stuff that the dj is spinning or even the party that's being advertised on the flier.

I see what you mean about "light" vs "dark". For the "lighter" side of mushroom I recommend Muse Breaks. It's got teeth but it gets relaxing at 0:00, 2:56, and 5:54 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0Cbfm1PStA
Elation Station is super-chill too — great way for me to relax & let-go of stress after a hard time. —> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OzcAGaHB2JU

I don't really care as long as its feel-good music that i can move to. I still follow most forms of electronica, but now it is mainly progressive trance or house, tech house, and happy-hardcore or melodic dubstep. Here is a playlist if you are interested in progressive trance. It may be repetitive for some, but I find this music very relaxing, and its still something I can dance to, or work out at the gym while listening to. Let me know if you need more songs.
Fadi - Ticket To The Sky
