People like my music, but they don't like me?
I have been composing music for years, but lately I have been doing more singer/songwriter stuff.
Most of my family and friends(very few people) tell me the music is amazing and that they really think
that I can get well known from it, but I always doubt myself so I started to think they were all just saying
that so that they wouldn't hurt my feelings and cheer me up, etc. So I posted some of my songs on facebook
and a few people I hardly know were posting positive comments on my songs, so that gave me some more
confidence in myself. Some of these people were saying that I really have a special musical talent. Anyway I
have always been really introverted, anti-social, quiet, etc. so playing live and singing my won songs in front of
thousands of people seems too overstimulating to me and I think that it would cause a meltdown. I know an AR
Rep. who can easily set up live shows for me to play music music at anytime I want, but I was thinking about just
having my songs copyrighted and then published by a music producer, who could pitch the songs to musicians
who are already famous to play, which could be a way for me to get my music out there without having to play live
shows myself. I honestly have my doubts though, because regardless of how good the music is...I am terrible at
socializing and it seems like it would take a lot of enthusiastic convincing with both the AR Rep and the music producer
to set this sort of thing up. Anyway, are there any musicians or songwriters on here that have been in this situation before?
Does anyone have any tips? I have already made a demo CD of my favorite 5 songs and I want to pitch it to the AR Rep
next time I see him, but I worry that he might just want to play a live show for me. Fellow musicians...any advice would be appreciated.
moved from General Autism Discussion to Art, Writing, and Music
Alienboy, that is awesome people are enjoying your music. i believe there is a group on FB that encourages autistic/aspie musicians (i can't remember the name, but i think it might be called "Naturally Autistic" or something). i would say that, if you are worried about the overly heavy socialisation required of musicians, you may want to represent yourself openly as having AS if you don't already - include it in your press package/bio. it intrigues people and may in fact make people more understanding of your tendencies. good luck!

I don't really have any advice... but my preference is also for song writing rather than actual performing. I don't know how you get into it but plenty of artists dont write all their own songs so there should be a market there somewhere.
