Doom metal is cool, but it's the one extreme metal subgenre where I can't get the sub-subgenres straight. Like, a band could be funeral doom to one person and symphonic doom to another, and sometimes even the bands themselves can't figure it out. The only ones that seem to have it together are the Death/Doom acts, and the only thing they all have in common is that they all stop being Doom at some point and become Progressive Goth Pop (see Katatonia, Anathema).

But yeah, I love tromping out to some Candlemass or Cathedral.
