Was Syd Barrett an Aspie?

I read some Pink Floyd articles about Syd Barrett's eccentric behavior and that there was a possibility of him having Aspergers. What do you guys think?

This is a very old story (well, for the last few years) and this has come up on this discussion board before. As for whether it's true, and as for information on the internet about this, I think this is the one that makes the most persuasive argument..

My impression is that this is what family members have been insinuating also. His sister Rosemary mentioning that as a small child he had capabilities that were "autistic or "aspergic" at one point is an example of that. The suggestion that he had mental problems but not what is described as a mental illness or insanity.

he WAS bi-polar

Now that's a theory I've never seen......I've heard of the possibility of AS, and potentially schizophrenia but never bi-polar. Based on what I've read though bi-polar would not make much sense since I haven't read anything on him reaching maniac states. Depression I could see but it seems there was more than just that going on.

I once heard someone say that he might of had ADHD, but I'm not sure.

I've also heard Schizophrenia.

Either way whatever disorder(s) he had or did not have he was an awesome musician. Also,there is a good biography that really goes into the history and apparently whoever wrote it got a lot of information from people who knew him and such anyways its called 'A very Irregular Head The Life of Syd Barret.' I have a copy and have only gotten half way through though. So yeah if anyones interested in an in-depth history I recommend it.
