My mind is almost like a movie camera that is always on and I have limited control over, recording images and sound and then replaying them, often for no apparent reason or while I'm doing certain things. For example I have a side account on Neopets where my characters live in the Haunted Woods and I usually dress them in spooky or Halloween-themed clothes, and when I go on the account and feed or change their outfits I always hear the creepy tune from Super Mario World where you enter the house haunted by Boos. Only it's the more updated version from SSB Brawl, I guess that makes some sense since it's spooky, but it's kind of weird that my brain would insert a soundtrack from another game franchise while I play a different one. Of course just typing this is making the song play in my head, except it's the original SMW version and those Boos won't stop making those creepy groaning sounds! 8O

Actually, I like it... And it's not like an audio hallucination or anything, lots of people get songs stuck in their heads, right?

For some reason the title track from "Phantom Of The Opera" is always stuck in my mind when I take a shower. 8O

It really depends on the mood of what I'm dealing with. If its something inspiring or that pushes a certain creative urgency, certain pieces of music will personify that. If I'm dealing with the grimier/corrupted side of things there's music that personifies that side of things, gets even more interesting when its a corrupted grittiness buried under a tightrope guise of nicities just because the music that represents that as well gets more multilayer, saccharine on the top and trouble on the bottom in hidden ways, etc. etc.

Strange to say but I'd almost say that I do a fair share of tying together settings, NT habits, and 'relating' them via the sort of music schematic that I assign certain activities or aspects of them.

Whenever I do anything related to my special interests, the song "Imaginary Friend" by Niha gets stuck in my head. It's because I consider the characters from my special interests (which are all shows/movies) to be my imaginary friends. What's weird though, is that the song is instrumental, so only its title reminds me of my imaginary friends. 8O

My life has a soundtrack in my head. Sometimes other people can hear it when I play guitar and sing in public, but most of the time it's just for me (unless telepaths are picking it up too). Sometimes there are lead guitar riffs, sometimes rhythm guitar picking or strumming, sometimes both. I don't usually hear bass and drum parts clearly but it's like they are implied. I suppose if I were The Bicycling Bassist or The Bicycling Drummer I would be hearing those parts clearly and it would be the guitar parts that were ghostlike. I have jammed with other musicians and been in a couple of bands. When I share original songs I've written, I don't usually tell the bass player or drummer what parts to play. I count on them to have their own muse direct them. I just play my guitar parts and sing my words, if any.

Because I have my own music in my head, usually other people's music only conflicts with it and gives me a headache. Sometimes though I play lead guitar riffs in my head to whatever other music is out there in the world of other people. Sometimes that is the only way to stay sane, especially if it is country music or rap that I am being forced to listen to. I've rocked out some elevator music too!

Usually the music in my head is instrumental (I am not The Bicycling Singer, as I tell anyone who criticizes my singing), but sometimes there are words. Sometimes words just happen, and music too, as in the following clip from a recent live performance of mine. As indicated in the description to this video, it shows me creating music out of nothing with no plans or ideas of what would come next. It just kinda flowed out like diarrhea, or maybe something nicer than that I hope!

I usually sing to myself, even if I only do it in my head.
